HI all- Just wondering what my chances are in the top 14 with these numbers. I know my LSAT is kinda low but will my GPA make up for that at all?

Top schools Im looking at are: Penn, HYS, and NYU

Thanks!

Good options despite the LSAT with that GPA, but if you've only taken the LSAT once, I'd recommend re-taking. You'd be in an awesome situation with a 170+ -- either significant money from mid-level T14 or into Harvard.

As is, HYS are probably out of the question unless you've got some insane softs.

Thanks guys- I guess I forgot to put my softs. I have work through college(8 months with a sitting gov. and the rest with a fortune 500). I am in the process of publishing a paper on executive malpractice and quality control. I am also running for a seat n my home town board of Ed.(we will see how that goes lol).

I know nothing like Rhodes but i dont think that is horrible.

How many times have you taken the LSAT?

167 is respectable, but with your GPA and those softs, it'd be a shame not to go all-out for HYS. As is, you've got to hope that a top-10 likes your softs. It's possible, although maybe unlikely, that you could strike out everywhere short of Michigan. But if you raise your LSAT 3 or more points, you're going to be fighting off $ offers from CCN with a very legitimate shot at Harvard.

Yes- I have only taken them once. I just dont know how much time I will have to sit down and go over all the material again. I didnt want my score to drop b/c i was getting greedy. I hear you though...I am only a few points off where i really want to be.

Totally understand that logic. I'm dealing with it myself, to a certain extent. But ultimately, what you stand to lose with a poor retake is far less significant than what you stand to gain with an improved retake. With your softs, I doubt a poor retake would hurt you very much at all. On the other hand, you're probably not in at the top 6 without a retake -- but could be a virtual lock for CCN and possibly H with a few more points.
