176/166/3.64/study abroad
Hi all
My GPA situation is quite convoluted, so would appreciate some insight into what my chances would be at the T14.
I have an overall GPA of 3.64 from a top Ivy school. Excluding my freshman year grades, my GPA rises to a 3.76. However, I took a junior year abroad at a top UK school and, though I received marks of A/A-, my study abroad marks were not factored into my university GPA and were thus unable to help make up for my first year.
I took the LSAT twice and got a 166 in 2009 and a 176 this year. I'm two years out of university and currently work at a multinational law firm in Europe. I'm fairly certain I can get strong recs from my partners.
What should I be shooting for? Are HYS totally out of the picture?
Thanks!

I am jealous of your educational experience. I´m studying abroad in Chile and will probably get mediocre grades but then again I don't really do the whole Español thing as well as my classmates.
Anyways brehhh... IN at CCN with dinero I would think. Maybe one of HYS
0L speaking with no idea what I'm talking about.

You might as well shoot an application to them, but yeah, your GPA is too low for each one.ccacmm wrote:Hi all

Do I need to submit an addendum explaining the discrepancy in LSAT scores when I took them 3 years apart? Should I submit an addendum explaining my GPA situation or would that draw unnecessary attention?

HYS is almost certainly not going to happen but you will get CCN.

Were your study abroad grades not factored into your LSAC gpa? My study abroad grades didn't count for my university's gpa either but got factored in by LSAC when I sent in all my transcripts. It actually helped a lot.

That's lucky for you. My LSAC profile looked as though I just graduated in three years with a gap year. That said, the .08 GPA bump it would have given me wouldn't have changed my cycle at all.suitup wrote:Were your study abroad grades not factored into your LSAC gpa? Harvard off the WL, especially with the drop in test takers, is not out of the question. Hardly worth apping below CCN though unless you are a big fan of one of the rest.
Eta: Sorry I misread OP as 3.76 not 3.64. HYS is probably no shot (but I would still app to Harvard at least), and I would throw in a couple of T14 safeties.
