Top Law Schools

There's a humblebrag element to this, I know. I also know all about LSN and LSP (which are both fantastic). I have seen the spectacular flow-chart and have gotten more than a couple chuckles out of it. What I'm interested in is my realistic chances at getting $$$ in the t-14:

LSDAS GPA: 3.95
LSAT: 178 (just got it)

Softs: 10+ years WE, MA in Latin American studies (3.93 GPA), field research in Argentina, volunteer translator for Kiva.org, first in my family to graduate from college, published my master's research as a chapter in a book on economic development in Latin America, military (intelligence analyst for the Army National Guard), typical UG and grad awards, scholarships, volunteer committees, fluent in Spanish and American Sign Language, getting there in Portuguese.

I think I have a pretty good shot at pretty good money, but I'm just curious as to whether anyone can give me any first or second-hand experience. Also, if at all possible, any insight into what kind of need-based aid (the kind that you don't have to pay back) is available at Harvard and Yale (and just how poor do you have to be to get it?)

Assuming this isn't a flame, then it's hard to answer because HYS only offer need-based aid, and those are the schools you'll be deciding between. You'll get a full ride to at least one, if not all, of CCN.

Others will have to chime in with the standards for need-based aid for HYS, but again those schools do not offer merit aid. But really, instead of worrying about any of this you should just be thinking about how to write the best 250 word essay you can because it's all that stands between you and Yale.

Well there's one spot less at Yale for me to shoot for now.

Full ride everywhere except HYS assuming you complete the required documentation in time (I don't know if there is any, but you'll be eligible (and most likely will receive) every full-ride scholarship with that background).

Thanks very much for the input guys, it is definitely encouraging. I guess if I am admitted to Harvard and/or Yale, it's going to be kind of a wait-and-see thing as far as knowing what kind of aid I will be eligible for. On LSN there is pretty decent scholarship data for most schools, but Harvard and Yale seem a little black-boxy in that regard.

That's because they don't offer merit aid, only need-based aid. With those softs I imagine you're auto-admit to Stanford and Harvard, and you have a great shot at Yale. Take some time off, write a good PS/Yale 250, and decide if you'd rather go to CCN for free or pay a little for HYS.
