As the forum title states...

Post by Islander80 » Sat May 05, 2012 10:51 am

BA History/Polisci Dual Major
LSAT 175
Overall Cum. GPA 3.31
Last 70 Credit hours since returning to school in 2010, all upper level coursework- 3.98 GPA Very strong trend, if they even bother to look that far.

Intangibles include owning (minority partner) my own successful business, strong recommendations, internship with legal department of a federal agency, and a hot fiance. I'm also a bit older than the average applicant (28-32 range). What are my odds of getting into a T-14 with these numbers?

My tops choices are Harvard, UChicago, University of Virginia, Duke and Georgetown.

Is there anything that you folks would suggest to improve my chances at this point?
I am slated to graduate in December 2012, but I could always push it back to Spring, pick up another 4 A's, and add an economics minor to my degree. It just wouldn't boost my GPA that much, to the point where it would break over a new numerical threshold as far as reporting is concerned.

Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Forgot to mention,

First to graduate HS and college in my family, and I am a first generation American.
(Not an URM though.)

Blanket T14, should get in a few places I would bet for sure. Maybe, maybe, $ from lower t14 but splitters (low gpa high LSAT) generally don't get $.
Congrats on LSAT.
If you think you would really like V, they give a substantial boost to ED applicants

In the T14, you'll get into UVA (w/ ED), Georgetown, and NU.

A 3.31 keeps you out of T6 and Duke isn't splitter friendly

lol

Be sure to write a Why UVA. Also apply to Columbia and NYU--they're more splitter friendly than most of the schools you listed.

Thank you for the responses!
And thanks for the suggestion Soj, but having grown up in New York..I'd really like to avoid going to school there. Might be too hard to focus moving back there after so long, friends etc...unfortunately there are so many good schools there, it's a reality I must just have to deal with.

I've been playing with lawschoolnumbers for months now.
Good luck to all applicants this year!
