Top Law Schools chance
Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, I am currently an undergrad at Columbia in New york. I have a 3.8, and will probably hit at least 170 on the LSAT. What are my chances for HYS and Columbia? Just a general idea of where I fit in, because I feel like I have a competitive GPA, but my school has pretty high grade inflation.

Actually get that 170 first. Also, lawschoolnumbers.com, check it out.

But I feel that lawschoolnumbers.com doesn't factor differences in school rigor

So a 3.8 At an Ivy League school is weighted the same as a 3.8 from state school? This can't be true

If it's an even comparison, yes, an ivy might get you in the door. But a 3.8 from Columbia won't get in over a 4.0 from Ohio State.jweezy wrote:So a 3.8 At an Ivy League school is weighted the same as a 3.8 from state school? This can't be true

I'm going to have to disagree with some of the comments made. I go to Duke and have seen the stats of how our undergrads do getting into law school. As a whole, we do quite a bit better than our numbers alone might predict, especially to the top feeder schools. I would talk to your pre law adviser to get stats on how your particular school does if you are really interested

Re: Top Law Schools chance
You already have grade inflation and access to A+s. Liberal arts ivy UG isn't that rigorous.
Go to LSN for chances. Many users list what kind of school they went to, so pay attention to that if you want. HYSC are reaches with a 170. 172 should give you a good shot at C, and 173 should make it a lock. 175 would probably make you a lock for H.

a. In the big picture, what UG you went to doesn't mean shit.Kionaltski wrote:I'm going to have to disagree with some of the comments made. b. Pre-law advisors are the last person you should be going to for help.
