UVA/Gtown (ED?) with Poll too
Where would you estimate my odds at: 1) UVA (ED or RD not sure yet) or 2) Georgetown
166 LSAT / 3.94 GPA; id say good to strong softs and letters of recommendation. Virginia resident and my top choice is UVA, if that helps at all
I'm planning to apply as early in the cycle as possible if it also helps.

Retake in June, get more points (which could be anything from 168 to 171, but go for it anyway). If you get the same score or lower, ED UVA. But with your GPA and just a few more LSAT points, you'll probably be looking at money from UVA/GULC. Then negotiate with them. That way you'll have a choice between two awesome schools, likely with money being involved, rather than being forced into UVA at sticker.
EDIT> Check out Lawschoolnumbers. There are people with 168s and 3.89s that are getting scholarship money for UVA. Don't ED.

thanks- unfortunately it doesnt look like i can retake because of lsac's restrictions on # of lsats taken. at this point my concern isnt necessarily scholarship money, but just getting in. would the bump be big for ed vs. rd?

Yes the ED boost is huge. If UVa is your first choice, send in your ED app on 9/1 and expect to hear back in a few days.

Re: UVA/Gtown (ED?) with Poll too
While the sample is still kind of small, about 1/3 of poll respondents said that I probably won't get in ED at UVA. Is there anything that you all would suggest I do to help my case / any other schools I should try if UVA isn't likely/ doesn't bite?

You're virtually guaranteed admission at UVA even without your in-state residency. You should still retake in June, tho.
Edit: mods be trolling. i mean to say you should r e t a k e in june

that sounds like good news- would you say ED is probably a good shot to go here? Any advantages in waiting until RD in my case? (can't take)FloridaCoastalorbust wrote:You're virtually guaranteed admission at UVA even without your in-state residency. You should still retake in June, tho.

lawschoolnumbers.com (check the UVa graphs)
If you don't ED there is a significant chance that you will get waitlisted (which spells doom for most applicants). Why give yourself that headache? Isn't UVa your first choice?

yes it is. I just wanted to double check. so if i read this correctly- ED would be close to in while RD would be good but no real lock?

also, thanks for the advice.
i'd say the only thing that could pull me away from UVA (if I were lucky to get in) might be money at a slightly lower ranked place.

You have virtually 0% chance at ED unless URM
Edit: I fuked up - meant RD.

Re: UVA/Gtown (ED?) with Poll too
Hmm the URM point is well taken but I would probably give OP around a 15% chance of getting in RD because he is a in-state applicant, UVa needs to fill their quota, and he has a sweet GPA. And yes, I pulled that percentage out of my ass, but you get what I mean.

Re: UVA/Gtown (ED?) with Poll too
wow, from very low chances to very good ones. I guess ED is the right answer here.
Are there many other T14 schools that give such an ED boost for reverse splitters or is this rare?
