I just got my February LSAT score of 177 (very surprised), and I'm curious as to what this does for me in regard to my chances at getting substantial money from any of the T14.
Here are the other factors:
2 years of moderately interesting WE
Captain of varsity sports team (Division 3)
Went to a top 3 liberal arts college
Got a pretty solid summer research fellowship, did some other social sciences research, nothing else extraordinary.
I'm very aware of LSN and have messed around on there quite a bit, but the scholarship reporting can be rather spotty, and I would really like to get some TLS opinions on the matter. Anecdotes are very appreciated.
Thanks.
Note: I'm not so much asking about where I can get in as much as where I can get money. Obviously those two things go hand in hand, but I think I probably have at least a solid shot at everywhere CCN down, and I'm aware that TLS can't really tell me much more than LSN shows in terms of admissions. I tend to think $ is something where TLS may potentially be more helpful, though.
^^That made me laugh.nkp007 wrote:I'll donate $10.rcthebigred1 wrote:Hello all.

HYS might not give merit, but they certainly give out need based like it's candy.thsmthcrmnl wrote:Anything short of HYS is likely (although not certain —and there's also yield-protection to worry about) to give you money.

Thanks. That's very helpful.Take Two wrote:YP is a can of worms I dare not open. But you have more or less my numbers, leaning towards better, so I would say as long as you can put together a decent app you should be looking at about what I got, probably a bit more. That 177 might even be enough to punch your ticket to YHS.
the link to my LSN is in my profile.
ETA: I am still in the midst of the cycle so I am hoping to see some money from some others, but my point is with your numbers if you want it you can get substantial $$$$
Thanks! good luck with your cycle, I suspect you are in for a good one!rcthebigred1 wrote:Thanks. That's very helpful.Take Two wrote:YP is a can of worms I dare not open. Congrats on the great cycle!

You have a 3.9. He has a 3.7. Totally different situation.teacher10456 wrote:soj wrote:Tough call because your GPA is below NU's median. I'd say probably not. Your best shot at T14 acceptance and money is NYU and Columbia since they seem to like high LSATs.
I don't know how important/relevant this is but I have a much lower LSAT and slightly higher GPA and I got the full ride offer from NU with no ED, so I imagine it is possible with your numbers...
This. You're above both medians; OP is not.Nelson wrote:You have a 3.9. He has a 3.7. Totally different situation.teacher10456 wrote:soj wrote:Tough call because your GPA is below NU's median. People with OP's numbers don't report getting big money from NU.CanadianWolf wrote:You should receive $50,000 per year ($150,000) from Northwestern. Just check lawschoolnumbers.com.
People with below median GPAs did snag the full ride, but it's certainly not the guarantee CanadianWolf seems to think it is.soj wrote:People with OP's numbers don't report getting big money from NU.CanadianWolf wrote:You should receive $50,000 per year ($150,000) from Northwestern. This is so, so wrong.CanadianWolf wrote:You should receive $50,000 per year ($150,000) from Northwestern. Just check lawschoolnumbers.com.
Yeah, I followed the NU thread and remember being pleasantly surprised by quite a few (2-3 by my count) TLSers getting the ED $$$ without numbers above both medians, but I don't think they were the norm by any means.Tiago Splitter wrote:People with below median GPAs did snag the full ride, but it's certainly not the guarantee CanadianWolf seems to think it is.soj wrote:People with OP's numbers don't report getting big money from NU.CanadianWolf wrote:You should receive $50,000 per year ($150,000) from Northwestern.
