Just wanted to get your opinions on my chances to get into a T-14 school, thanks & appreciated.

GPA: 3.63 (Biology - concentration in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, German minor)
LSAT: 171

Took a year off after undergrad and lived in northern Mexico teaching biology at a middle school. I wrote my Personal Statement about the experience.

You're applying now? You should get into most of 7-14, and maybe get $ or $$ if you're lucky.

Just got put on the "preferred waiting list" at Georgetown. Is that something that should be expected? I'm kind of nervous because they are one of the lowest T-14s.

I've already been accepted at Vanderbilt and a couple other T1 schools in the top 30, but those aren't my goal.

I applied 3 weeks ago. They got back to me today. Sitting out for another year isn't exactly my dream. I've already taken two years off since ugrad and really looking forward to getting back in school.

You should reapply early next cycle. You will definitely increase your chances at T14 schools by doing so.

Just because GULC is 14th doesn't mean it is the easiest to get in.

This late in the game he should break one t-14, but if he applied in October I'd say in from Penn down.

If you don't get MVP or a bunch of money lower down, you need to be reapplying.

I am really, really surprised GULC WL'ed you so quickly. I think there's gonna be a lot of WL movement this year. Schools seem to be trying to completely ignore the fact that apps are down almost 20%, but it's gotta catch up to them somewhere.

Well, I was put in the "special group inside the preferred list". Whatever that means. I'm hoping to break MVP. That's my goal at least. If not, I'll probably sit out another year, hit up the June LSAT and try to break into the mid-to-upper 170s, and re-app in the fall. Thanks guys, I feel a bit better. GULC waitlisting me came as a shock considering on their graphs, I'm right in the accept range. I'll update when I hear back from the rest of the T-14.

As per previous cycles:

Basically the regular WL, preferred WL, and special group preferred WL are different in size (from largest to smallest). However the odds of getting off each of them was roughly the same. If they need to bring up their GPA median, they would admit a 3.9/165 on the regular WL and not you (since your GPA drags down their median).

What's the point of three different groups then? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
