Will have to apply in late January ... do i have a chance at UNC Chapel Hill or Pepperdine?

If I apply and dont get in how badly does that affect my application if I apply again the next year? Basically I want to know if I really have anything to lose besides my $75 by applying this late in the game.

Any advice on either of the above is helpful.
