Top Law Schools

Attended top public college with reputation for grade deflation. Took test in October, got a 159 which was well below practice tests, retook in December and got 169. Looking at likely apps for next cycle but weighing applying in the next couple of days. Strong softs, with over a year of continuous employment in statewide government since graduation. Looking at bottom end of top 14, others in east like Fordham, BC, GW, William and Mary etc. Thoughts/advice?

BC, BC, William and Mary you have a decent shot at, I'm not sure how splitter-friendly they are, but you should definitely get at least a few bites. Fordham as well, GW will be a bit harder. Your only real shot in the T14 would be Northwestern (especially with that WE), and you have a real outside chance at Cornell, though unlikely.

I'd shoot apps at Northwestern, Cornell, and the other schools you listed, along with a few safeties. You mentioned east coast, so if you really want to give it a shot at Georgetown as well and have the money for the app, it can't hurt.

Thanks for the thoughts, my gut says to ED Northwestern during the next cycle, and then spread apps among the others I mentioned with safeties at 'Nova and Cardozo. Other thoughts?

I figure GULC is probably a long shot. Consensus would be to wait for the next cycle though, correct? Also, does EDing to NU help or hurt chances for admission with the scholarship program?

All it means is that they'll roll you over to RD. It could possibly help by showing NU that you really, really want to go there. What are your thoughts on WUSTL?

I'll probably see if I can get a waiver to apply there, but would be open to it, if I don't get into any comparable schools or if they give me some money. I'd prefer to stay further east, all things being equal, but I certainly would have to think hard about turning them down if it was the best school I got into. Are they particularly splitter friendly?
