My dream school would be U of Chicago or U of M, but I'd just like to be in the top 20 somewhere...Anyone think any of the realllllly high schools would consider me? Have any tips/suggestions as I apply?

Michigan looks good, Chicago may be a bit more difficult, but still definitely possible.

You'll probably be waitlisted, but I think you'll get into at least one of those two eventually.

These were almost my exact numbers and I got into UChicago off the waitlist. Was also WLed at Michigan but withdrew. You're competitive basically from Chicago on down.

If the above underlined was so easy, people wouldn't be applying to law schools.

If you have a 3.9 gpa, they are very realistic.....Especially if you go to a top 50 undergrad (minus private equity)....

You don't even know if OP is still in undergrad. What is with this rash of people on TLS talking about incredibly competitive fields as though they're something people with high GPAs back into.

I assumed the OP is in undergrad because if I had a 3.99/168 with work experience, I wouldn't be asking what is the highest possible school I could get into...
With a 3.99/168 and work experience, you apply to every school in the top 10.

I think the first thing you learn in law school is you can't assume.

Thanks for all of the help/information everyone, I really appreciate it...I am hopeful for one of these two, but the issue of scholarships and bills will also obviously play a role.

Stanford isn't out of the question depending on your UG and work experience and other softs.

Yeah if you play all your cards right (good PS, get a school-specific rec, apply early), you could get Stanford.

With my apps getting in a little late, how high are the odds of me being wait listed at a lot of top schools? Im assuming they're pretty high.

Why not just retake and lock T6? IMO you're wasting that GPA...

Just like everythings else (including law school). It is actually easier to do than outsiders would assume.

It's really hard to make that claim when 90% of the people don't finish in the top 10%. I am glad you are having a easy time, but you should have realized like 2 months ago that it doesn't apply to everyone.
