Top Law Schools

Hello guys as the subject title says those are my figures. Haven't taken lsat yet and will probably take it next October. Sophomore year dicked around and it showed but had an upward trend in GPA from junior year onwards.

I do bioengineering research, volunteer, have leadership and corporate internship exp. Taking PTs I'm getting around 167 which I'm pretty disappointed with and which I feel will hold me back.

I was wondering whether some of the more experienced TLSers can give me an honest opinion of my chances with T14 or T20.

Haha fair point. Say I get around a 167 to 169 which is my PT score range.

Also, does lawschoolnumbers.com give an accurate idea of my chances since it just goes based upon numbers and not other parts of my application (I'm not sure how much they matter though).

The consensus here is going to be come back with a real score, but I'll just say that with your GPA, t14 is probably not happening with a sub-170 score. That said, if you're planning to take it next October, you have plenty of time to improve a great deal over your current PT scores. Go check out the LSAT prep forum for some studying approaches.

yeah, you don't really have any numbers-changing softs, so lawschoolnumbers is the best barometer

yeah, you don't really have any numbers-changing softs, so lawschoolnumbers is the best barometer

Unless you've cured something or spent years building schools and hospitals in a developing country, your softs will have a very small impact on your cycle.

Spend the next 10 months studying for the LSAT. There's no reason you can't get above a 170 if you work at it.

Just out of curiosity what are considered some number changing softs? Also, in terms of preparation, I've been trying to find dense reading material, mind games, etc that I could use to augment my test taking skills to perhaps make me more at ease when going through the sections.
Do you guys recommend anything (besides doing a ton of problems which I'll do anyway)?

Rhodes scholar or the life-equivalent.

Also, I'm thinking about taking extension classes at Berk which is a program through which people can take classes after they grad. Possibly take 1 class a sem until I apply to LS and just keep getting A's though its a separate transcript to my undergrad.

It sucks but I had a very good chance of having a gpa of 3.6 if I had only paid attention like I did in hs. Oh well, live, learn and keep fighting.

your LSAC gpa doesn't change after your first bachelor's, unfortunately.

As far as numbers-changng softs:
veteran, URM, Rhodes, 10+ years of prestigous work

I feel like I just saw a very similar post on another grad school forum.

You may have a shot at T14 to T20 with a stellar LSAT score, but if I were you I would just take a shot at med school.

Correct! I'm weighing my med school option as well.

My first preference is law though since it fits my personality the best. Hence I'm trying my best for law atm. Thanks for everyone's opinions though.

I got the general idea. I need to nail the LSAT to make up for my deficiencies so that is what I'll focus on.
