...internship in a law school would be a rather weak soft. Honestly, if you really wanted to attend those institutions, you should have worked a lot harder while you were in school rather than relying on how to bs your way in.lutcf2021 wrote:How good of softs are we talking here?

With a 3.3? Rhodes/Marshall/Fulbright scholar.lutcf2021 wrote:How good of softs are we talking here?

If that's the case, then it might help. I'm not saying this about you but in general I wonder though if admissions officers ever think to themselves that people have an excuse for everything. I mean if you look on this forum, it seems like everyone who has an increase even in LSAT scores pretty much lies about having a reason for it. Again though, I'm not targeting you since I really don't know your situation but others on this forum have been pretty blatant about making excuses that probably aren't true.lutcf2021 wrote:lats19nys wrote:...internship in a law school would be a rather weak soft. That's fair.
I actually have good reason for the two semesters where my life virtually fell apart. pulled pretty much semi failing grades b/c of personal issues (i figured i would put those concerns in an addendum) .

Brochacho, he's AA. He can get into at least H with a decent LSAT.Elston Gunn wrote:I doubt any LSAT will get you into HYS. Look at Harvard's LSN: http://harvard.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/1011/. The only green dot below a 3.3 is a clearly fake profile (he claims to be attending Yale, even though his GPA is well below their lowest reported GPA). I'd say high 170s to even have a chance.
Even for URMs, Harvard has a hard GPA floor. I'm not sure 3.3 will cut it.BiglawOrBust wrote:Brochacho, he's AA. If he weren't AA, the floor would be 3.7-3.8. Look at LSN--over the last 4-5 years, there's literally green two dots at or below 3.3. It's a small sample size of URMs, but it's not like they aren't represented at all. It's possible OP could get in with a 178+, but he'd need great softs to be one of the lucky few, which it doesn't seem like he has.BiglawOrBust wrote:Brochacho, he's AA. My bad then. I'm sorry, OP. Strong softs still seem necessary, but if you really killed the LSAT, it seems like you could overcome it.GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:A lot of misinformation in this thread.
I know two AA males at HLS with lower GPAs.
172/3.2 - went to a school notorious for grade deflation. JR/KB1 in February.
170/174/3.2 - had two years of great business experience. JR1/KB 1 in December.
Neither were WLed, though the first was held.
I dk what the floor of the LSAT would be exactly for him to have a fighting chance (maybe a 168/9?) but his GPA certainly does not throw him out of admission.
+1 Tons of misinformation on this thread. I think OP should shoot for 170+. I think the 168/169 gets him a look, but 170+ turns him into a strong URM splitter. I'll be attending HLS with a 3.39/170, so its definitely still a possibility.GAIAtheCHEERLEADER wrote:A lot of misinformation in this thread.
