175/3.3

I have a 175/3.3 from a top 3 public school. My grades are better later in college, but not significantly. My softs are OK, but no game changers (president of clubs, internships, research, strong LOR's, etc.)

I have reviewed the various predictors, but they rarely have large sample sizes for my numbers. Is there a sense of where these numbers get someone?

I plan on applying ED to NYU. Is that a good idea?

Thanks

Hi OP, I have similar stats and the general consensus is a slim shot at CCN ED and a decent shot at MVP ED.

You almost have the same numbers as me (3.39, 175), plus I don't have any really significant softs. I think you have a pretty decent shot at NYU ED, though that is based off of a very limited sample size from LSN. Out at CC though, MP you have a better shot at than NYU, and can almost certainly lock up UVA with ED.

I have a similar GPA, slightly lower LSAT (173) and I'm applying ED to NYU as well. You have better chances than I do, but I don't think either of us have a great shot. I'm doing the hail mary thing and applying early because I really need to stay in the NY region, but it's definitely a risk.

If you apply early to any of MVP you're almost a lock there; without it, I think you have a decent shot of snagging one of them, but certainly no guarantees and you could end up only having options in the lower half of the T-14. So, it comes down to how much you're willing to risk.

Probably going to ride NYU waitlist, and MVP RD will be somewhat of a crapshoot especially without "Why" MVP essays. This is exactly what I'm going to do, and we have basically the same numbers. Banking on that NU for T14 chances if everything else falls through.

Do you have a good alternative if nothing pans out, like are you willing to go to a lower ranked school that gives some $$? If not, do you have a job you see yourself staying at and moving on up in? If also not, it might be wise to consider ED MVP, or NU. UVA and NU would be very good chances using ED.

Not sure NU would be anymore, now that they're giving a full ride to ED applicants.

I've got very similar numbers - 3.35 with a 176. I ED'd columbia though I'm not holding my breath on admission. I would say that you're very much on the fence at NYU ED but you should get accepted to at least 1 of MVP if that doesn't work out.
