character&fitness concerns

Post by pacifica » Fri Oct 28, 2011 10:25 am

I'm applying next cycle, and only peeked at some paper apps last night out of curiosity, and the C&F section made really me sleepless. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

...

Thanks again!

For acceptances to schools, criminal record doesn't seem to matter at all as long as you're forthcoming with the info.

Obviously this was a very long time ago, and if you've had nothing else since then I think it will be pretty clear to law schools that you're not a hardened criminal.

I think that law schools mostly ask these questions to make sure they don't admit people who can never pass the bar. You'll have no problem passing the bar. Something that happened once when you were barely a teenager does not mean you're not trustworthy enough to be a lawyer.

Enjoy T6.

I would just disclose it on all of your applications - you'll have to disclose it on any bar applications you submit, and it will be a C&F flag for the board of bar examiners if it wasn't in your law school application materials, regardless of what the law school ap actually asked for (to be clear - they won't care about the conviction, but they get really pissy if they view you as having been less than honest in any of your disclosures). It's not going to get you dinged anywhere. Enjoy Harvard or Stanford, maybe even Yale, or Columbia with full ride.

Disclose if covered in the question. Won't hurt...too long ago.
