I'm planning on doing public interest and I know they have good scholarships for that, but I was wondering if anyone has has experience with their merit scholarships.

LSAT: 175
UGPA: 3.9
LGPA:3.8
I'm a non-URM male
Decent (nothing spectacular) softs.

Looks like about 50-50 for money fom people with your numbers (who are accepted). Definitely go hard after the RTK scholarship if you have demonstrated PI background.

The RTK has nothing to do with your numbers. Your numbers are important to get you in, your experience is important for the RTK.

I wasn't meaning to imply it did, though I guess it was kind of irrelevant to add in retrospect. Anyway, only two of those people that I linked to got full rides (and thus might have been RTKs), so it should still give OP the information he needs.

If you really want PI, look into GULC as well, which has a great LRAP.

I know, I'm just saying if that's what OP is gunning for then he should worry more about his RTK app and less about his numbers.

What's so great about it? (Genuine question.) A cursory glance says it's good for the 14th ranked law school, but hardly out of the ordinary, and OP could get into better schools with at least comparable LRAPs.

Edited: to remove the ridiculous redundancy of "LRAP programs"

Agreed. Chicago and NYU have incredible LRAPS (IIRC, Chicago is the only one that covers clerkships), and OP has a good chance to get into both.

OP has almost no chance of an RTK, based on what he/she's said here. If you look at all the past people who have received RTKs, it's not just that they have worked at a nonprofit for a couple years or something; most of them have done pretty exceptional things, and OP referred to his/her softs as "decent." I mean, OP can definitely apply, but just know that the bar for RTK is very high.

This is wrong.

Thanks for the responses everyone! I will definitely be looking into RTK. I was just wondering if I should expect anything based only on merit.

This is where LSN comes in.

To preface this, it is for federal loans only, but:

If you go to Georgetown, get an PSLF qualifying job (any government or non-profit JD required or preferred position), and your income is under $75,000 then they pay 100% of your IBR loan payments for 10 years at which point the rest is forgiven. If more than $75,000, their portion of the payment is on a sliding scale.

So if you make under $75,000, you pay nothing on any of your loans, ever.

That seems like a pretty great LARP. Georgetown is also one of my top choices because I'm planning on going the JD/MPH route. I've been told by an alumnus of the Georgetown/Hopkins program that they have great opportunities and resources.

OP, you are very likely to get something on the order of $15-25k/year from NYU.
