158/3.09 retaking in Dec

158/3.09. I plan on retaking in Dec. I did not live up to my PT potential. However, if I do no better, what are my options for schools if I am trying to get into as good a school as possible? I'd like to stay on the East Coast, but the option to venture to other places is there. 7 years full time WE. Masters.

Where on the East Coast do you want to practice long term? What are your career goals? What were you PT-ing?

I'd say you have a shot at Cardozo part time.

So helpful. Where should I have put this then? I'll PM a mod and ask them to move it to the correct forum.
To answer your question, I'd like to stay in the MD-NC area, but relocating is not out of the question. I was PTing around 165-170. I'm interested in patent law.

If you're not going to retake (and you definitely should), you should apply to schools in the immediate legal market where you want to work. MD and NC are vastly different legal markets, btw. With those numbers, you're highly unlikely to get into a national school.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. I am planning on retaking. I've been signed up since the day I took the October test. This is basically a worst case, I didn't do any better in December, scenario. Ideally, I'd stay in MD. Wouldn't mind NC, as that is where I am from originally. But I am willing to relocate to as far as the West Coast, if moving means going to a school where I would have better job prospects. I'm not worried about moving permanently somewhere, if that makes sense.

Your best job prospects (absent a truly national school, which is almost assuredly out of the question with your current numbers) is going to come in a job market where you grew up, going to the best school you can get into in that market. If that's Maryland, then UMD is probably your best bet. If that's NC, then UNC might be a possibility. Check out lawschoolnumbers.com for past students' success.
I'd also start heavily considering scholarship opportunities. Law school is a losing bet for 90%+ of students.

Wrong in these circumstances:
a. You have an in at a family firm
b. You have connections somewhere
c. This is your passion and don't give a damn how much you make
d. You want to start your own firm some day
e. You may not start big, but you can work your way up

+10000 - you sound like someone who knows how the law industry works. Most people on this form are all about Biglaw or bust. You can make more than a big law firm partner (and lead a better balanced life) if you start your own firm and have a passion for the law.

No. East Coast is no go for anything T1, and 90% of TT. Full time programs at Rutgers and Seton Hall come to mind as your best bets for true east coast TT, although the odds are against you at both. Both have PT programs that are worth looking into with your numbers. I don't know about this year, but Seton Hall's PT acceptance rate was quite high in years prior. Aside from those, Pitt, Buffalo, St. John's and Hofstra could bite. That GPA is a tough sell, unfortunately.
TTT could mean scholly, but buyer beware.

Best way...doesn't mean its the only way. Plus, everyone ends up paying back their loans, it's only a matter of when.

Um, I got into dozo pt with 158/3.95, and know others with lower lsat scores, so its definitely possible.

You do know that there is a very, very big difference between your 3.95 and OPs 3.09, right?

Yes, but the people with lower lsat scores that got in compensate for my higher GPA stats.

Um, 3.95 is a strong GPA. 3.09 is not.

Ok lets not be jerks over here. A normal person knows that when I say "everyone" I mean like 90%, unless you're trying to imply that 90% of law students with debt are homeless or the like.
