True. NYU would also be somewhat credited.Mal Reynolds wrote:Retake will be a common theme for responders with that high of a GPA and good softs.
Another common response, which I will offer first, DO NOT base your decision on international law. Unless you go to HYS, and even then, international law is not something to bank on.
Not to undermine this posters' softs or anything, but really? I mean, those are some impressive softs, for sure, but I think military experience, people who started their own nonprofits, and Peace Corps volunteers probably all have a leg up on most of this person's softs. The Rhodes could be a major thing, but besides that, I don't think any of these are necessarily game changers.buckilaw wrote:Normally I would never say this... But if you were to apply to Boalt you would probably get in. With a 169-170 you might be set at Stanford. Your softs might be the best I've ever seen on this site. You should really retake so you have a good chance at Harvard or Yale.

I meant more any one of this person's softs, not necessarily all of them combined. I guess my point was that there isn't any one thing particularly amazing that this applicant has done that would change his cycle as much as other posters have been implying.LawSchoolChampion wrote:Montevillian wrote:Not to undermine this posters' softs or anything, but really? As I founder of my own non-profit I would've placed the OPs softs way above mine...am I wrong in thinking this way?
Fixed for montevillainbuckilaw wrote:Normally I would never say this... But if you were to apply to Boalt you would probably get in. With a 169-170 you might be set at Stanford. I get the sense you don't want to study for your LSAT again. However you seem like a very hard worker and you owe it to yourself to take it again. IMHOweye wrote:Thank you all for the input. Do you think an ED to NYU, Chicago or GULC is a possibility? Also, if accepted ED, is it possible to defer for an international fellowship?

You could try, but it probably won't happen. You can call those schools and ask about their deferral policy.weye wrote:Thank you all for the input. Do you think an ED to NYU, Chicago or GULC is a possibility? Also, if accepted ED, is it possible to defer for an international fellowship?
With your GPA and softs, you could crack the T6 with even a 3-point increase.Grizz wrote:You could ED UVA and get in, a real shot at Berk too, but lets be real, if you want a real shot at international human rights work I'd retake and try to get into HYS. Also, don't bank on even getting a job doing that. Also, for a real shot at these type of jobs, might not be a bad idea to work for one of those NGOs after graduation. Might lend you added credibility. Then again, if you just want to make a difference, you don't even need the law degree.
edit: Also, good softs, but probably not the ones that get people with 165s into HYSCCN.
NYU ED is a sure rejection.sach1282 wrote:Either retake, or ED to NYU and hope for Boalt IMO.
