Hey there, everyone. So, I was pt-ing in the upper 170s but I scored 157 (long story) followed by a 167 I went to retake last week but I got sick so I had to cancel.
Softs: two years full-time WE in South Korea teaching ESL and test prep at a highly-ranked private school. Before coming here I worked for a gov agency for five months working on their semi-annual report and writing grants. In university I worked multiple jobs (an RA was one of them) and I edited the school paper. I interned for various papers during school breaks. I organized a global warming campaign for a public interest group and i also volunteered with an org that built houses in Virginia during spring break.
I am currently organizing a group for queer women in Korea and I have volunteered a bit here. I am planning on writing a paper or book on feminist politics in Korea before I leave.
While in college I double-majored in polisci and journalism and was part of the honors college. I had a 3.9 throughout but I took on too much at the end while I was working on my thesis and an international relations concentration. My thesis in gender politics was published and I received awards from my university.
I went to a large state school. I am the only person to go to college in my family, I'm gay, and I was adopted. My family story is weird and not fun.
Ok, I know that's a lot to read but I have no idea... Should I bother EDing to Cornell, upenn, or Michigan? Do I have a chance??

No. Also Cornell does not have ED. Retake if you want T14.

Can't retake. Cancelled my third test because I got sick. Diarrhea. Really couldn't just suck it up.

You've got a shot at all of them. Your GPA is good enough. Being gay will help you in admissions.

ED if you want. Nothing to lose really. You won't get in though. But apply to more schools.

Similar stats to yours. I have pretty good softs (lots of work experience, leadership, strong rec letters, etc) and I expect them to help me on the places where I'd be 50/50 but they're not getting me in anywhere I wouldn't get in without them.
I think you should expect the same.

Id like to hear the long story that made your PT average of a 177 drop 20 points? Did you skip a section?

Not even skipping a section would drop you that much.

I should have clarified that I was actually in the upper 160s when I took that exam and I was taking medication that made me really sleepy and ran out of time. I studied more and retook when I was in the upper 170s and underperformed again.

Sorry. Looking through my old posts and I had to revisit this. Didn't retake. In at GULC and Cornell. Haven't heard elsewhere yet.

Congratulations. The earlier assessments did seem a tad harsh.
