I'm signed up to retake the LSAT on Saturday (the 163 and 167 are actual scores, this will be my third time) and getting advice about how I stand with the scores in hand will either be a good idea or bad idea...but I'm curious anyway. I'm a VA resident and will have 2 years WE as a paralegal in a boutique litigation firm in DC. I would LOVE to go to UVA, but I would also strongly consider $$$ elsewhere, particularly GW.

I've already looked at lsn and lsp, but I'm hoping that in-state residency will help more than either site indicates. I understand that there's a rumored 1 pt LSAT boost given to in-staters, but I'll still be below their median.

I would appreciate your insight! And will hopefully check back in late October with an improved score!

ETA: I am not inclined to ED because I'm fairly debt averse and, while I've seen people get money after being admitted ED, I'm not confident that I would receive anything without a 170+

With your current numbers, apply to CG on down to the strongest schools in your preferred regions.

So no chance with UVA then? Preferred region is DC or NOVA.

You're well below the LSAT median and barely below the GPA median, but below is still below. In order to have a shot at UVA, you'll need at least a 170.

Thanks, that was my instinct (although I thought I was above the median, didn't realize that LSN's numbers were from 2009 but LSAC shows the median as 3.85) so I guess I just have to do better on Saturday! If not there's always GW, GMU, etc.

3.82 is still below 3.85 (ie, your numbers don't "help" them). Just rock that LSAT.

Right, sorry I was pretty unclear in my previous post. I didn't realize it was 3.85, I thought the median was 3.68 (http://uva.lawschoolnumbers.com/) which is why I thought I had a shot, but at least I have one more try!
