3.3 175
175 was a retake of a 168
GPA was all over the place between 2.7 to 4.0 in a given semester and I'll have an alright addendum but it is what it is.
From the midwest
Solid PT work in school
Mediocre ECs
Good LORs
Pursuing a Masters
Top public UG
Apps will be submitted by the end of the month
(I've been around here long enough to know how much of the above info doesn't matter, just put it up there for anyone who wonders)
I have the following questions:
1. Does anyone see even a slight chance at UC or NYU or are they truly not worth the app fee?
2. Really hoping for acceptances amongst MVP, how comfortable should I be that I get at least one without blowing an ED?
3. Any shot at money at Cornell or GULC?
4. How low do I have to go before I'm looking at a potential huge (full tuition) scholarship? (Some UG debt, I'd like to have the option)

I got into MVP with a 3.2X and 172. Granted, off the wait list, but you are definitely in the game. Apply early.2014 wrote:175 was a retake of a 168

Re: 3.2x, 175
Tough situation. ED app to NYU or Chicago would be a longshot, but still just inside "nonzero chance" territory.
You could always apply throughout the T-14 and then if things aren't looking good in late January apply ED to UVA. Problem with this is that you are likely to be one of the later decisions at a lot of schools, so you may not have many decisions at that point.
In your shoes I'd probably ED one of MVP early in the cycle once you've picked a favorite. Outside of Indiana, I don't see a full ride for you anywhere in the top 30.

I got full ride at WUSTL and half-ride at GW with 3.2x/172.Tiago Splitter wrote:Tough situation. ED app to NYU or Chicago would be a longshot, but still just inside "nonzero chance" territory.

Hell, I even got $ from my MVP.

Re: 3.2x, 175
I wouldn't consider 84K to be a full ride. A few people got more than that at WUSTL but those look like special circumstances/undisclosed URMs. No one in the 3.2 range got a true full ride, so please add your profile to LSN if it isn't already there.
OP can lock up MVP with an ED, or wait it out and possibly end up at Georgetown or WUSTL with money. I guess it depends on his preferences. I suppose if the undergrad debt and even token interest in a full ride exists, ED probably shouldn't be an option.

Not a lock for MVP unless you are in-state at V or M. An ED to Penn would give you good odds, although chances for UofC or NYU ED are non-zero (although not great). If I were you I would be deciding whether I valued a non-zero shot at Chicago or NYU more than a real bump at Penn. You might be in for money at M or you might be in for a rejection, it really depends on how they like your app.
You're probably out at NU if you don't have "real" work experience. You're in at Georgetown, out at Duke, and ?? at Cornell. I don't see Georgetown giving you money, but Cornell might (if you get in).

Re: 3.2x, 175
Appreciate the replies so far. EDing and sticker kind of scares the hell out of me but then again so does trying to pay off any amount of UG debt with a degree from a non t30 (or more realistically a non t14) school.

Re: 3.2x, 175
Final Transcripts just updated and I'm sitting at a 3.3 instead of 3.2x. Any improved chances at Chicago ED or Penn RD?

i would ED Penn, too risky for you to get shut out of both Penn and Chicago without it.

Re: 3.2x, 175
My cycle was pretty bad for a few reasons, but you can see it as a cautionary tale if you want. You have me beat on the softs, and your PS is probably better, but don't take anything for granted.

And you are not getting a full ride at WUSTL without offers in at least the UIUC range to negotiate with.

I would definitely ED to NYU and apply early to UPenn. I'm quite convinced that you'll snag at least one of the two. Good luck!

Re: 3.3 175
Almost identical stats to you from last cycle with acceptances at Penn, NYU, Chicago, and Boalt. I would say ED to your choice of C or N and write strong Why X statements for P and M (out of state, V is probably a reject). M is your best shot out of MVP, I think.
