T50 or T20?

Hey all.
I'm looking at whether I want to do schools in my current region, probably in state, for cheap (substantial scholly likely) or target T20.
Undergrad GPA: 3.7
LSDAS GPA: 3.57
LSAT: 166, retaking in October (was averaging 175 before the test, have anxiety and asthma medication under control now for October test). Hoping for a 170+
Should I look at staying in my region for cheap/free and trying to be top of my class or aim T14? I do love my region (rocky mountains) and would enjoy working here if I could find a good job.
Region schools:
University of Utah #42 (in-state)
Colorado Boulder #44
Top School Aims
MVP down to-> BU/BC

I guess it comes down to that LSAT and asking yourself if you really want to work in the mountain west, along with your career goals.
Do you have an idea of what type of practice you're aiming for?

Possibly environmental law, there's a pretty large market for it in the Mountain West. Considering a dual MS or PhD program since these schools (especially Utah) would be so cheap for it.
I'll decide for sure of course when the October LSAT score comes back.

Haha I sure hope so SOJ, but we'll see. If I can control the nerves (i.e., pull a Bruce Willis) I hope I can do well.

166/3.57 means you are pretty much out at all of T20 IMO (to extent GW is considered T20 you prob have a pretty good shot there though I think). Come back with your new LSAT score--right now you are not really comparing T50 to T20, because you have little shot at T20 (this is assuming you are not URM). Also, LSAC GPA is what schools consider as far as I know, so not sure why you are citing a 3.7 UGPA in addition to the 3.57 that schools will be considering.
You probably will be looking at some degree of money at lower T1 schools (though not a ton probably, at least not at U. Colorado for instance IMO). Probably some mid-T1 acceptances w/o money would be my guess, though also some mid-T1 (ie T25ish) rejections.
Good luck with new LSAT.

Thanks, yeah I understand my chances of acceptance at most of the top 20 with my current score is near 0. I'm hoping for that on a 170+, and I mentioned my 3.7 because I'll definitely be writing an addendum (the only reason it's dropped is because of two high school concurrent enrollment math courses in my junior year, hoping if the rest of my application is great that might help them overlook it a bit).

Looking at the LSN graph, that's pretty much WL/reject territory for GW. I had to ride the WL with a 3.3, 167. OP's numbers are below both medians.
