I NEED HELP 4.09 AND 163

Post by glcoupe » Thu Jul 28, 2011 6:13 pm

What schools should I aim for ED?
What should I do RD?

I want t14 if possible, is it?

T14 will be tough unless you are a URM I would think. I'm guessing most of your answers will be to retake. Have you retaken? How did you study?

Edit: also people don't like thread titles in all caps, if you change that you might get more responses

A few questions:

1. Are you a URM?

2. Would you consider retaking the LSAT?

A yes to either of these questions would be helpful in your situation. Even if you could raise your score to a 165, it would be very helpful.

Right now, unless you are a URM, you are likely to be shut out of the top 14. You have a decent shot at schools 16 and down. Great shot at schools 20 and down. If you are a URM, I would say you're probably in at schools 7 on down.

The good news is that you are above every schools GPA median. The bad news is that your LSAT is really low for a T14, likely below most if not all of the T14's 25% for LSAT score. You would have a very slim chance at UVA ED with your current numbers.

BUT

If you seriously want T14 retake to get above school's 25% LSAT percentile, or better yet met or exceed a few schools' LSAT medians. With a 165-167 you would probably get at least one T14. With a 169-170+ you would likley get several with $$$. Don't limit yourself to a potentially mediocre school when you could attend a superior one with financial aid. You should retake.

What specifically are you having trouble at in the LSAT? Is it one section that's dragging down your composite, or are you roughly the same across the board? Have you taken a prep-course?
moreover, what's your major? 4.09 in basket weaving isn't as impressive as 4.09 in bio-medical engineering.

OP, you should retake, but if that's not an option, of the T-14, try UVA ED and apply on September 1 - the first day that applications are accepted.

Retake. You'd be wasting that GPA.

Yeah, I would really want to know if retake is an option.

170+ would give you a shot at the top of the T14...

I honestly dont think that theyre that good. You need a retake. You handled the hard part with that GPA. What you can control now is your LSAT.

You raise your LSAT to a 170, and we're talking HYS territory, unless you just came off a stint in prison for double murder or something.
