That's the one I'm grappling with. I love Ann Arbor, but I just don't want to be that far from home. Family is big for me, and I'd hate to have to fly to come home when I need to. But I'm considering Sports/Entertainment law and they have a great program...in the end, I'll probably end up applying (what do I have to lose, except $60), but I'd have to think long and hard before I took an offer from UM over Cornell or GULC.

Ed Chicago. Their LSAT is high and their GPA is lower (mostly because uChicago ungrad rigor). You have a good shot.

If i was you id add Michigan, and some other top 20 schools for scholarships

Would I have a considerably better shot getting into Chicago ED than NYU ED, RD, and off the waitlist? Even then, I really wouldn't want to do anything that could, conceivably, prevent me from attending school in New York. But if the answer is yes, I'll strongly consider it.

The first of those profiles appears to be much more representative than the second. Not getting into any of the T-14 with a 3.5/174 means either a very poorly assembled application or, more likely, C&F type issues.

I think you should be fine, given that NYU almost never rejects or waitlists anyone with an LSAT that high and an even halfway decent GPA. If you would take Columbia over NYU, give Columbia an ED app just for kicks.

Given your desire to be in or near New York, don't ED Chicago.

Given your strong desire to stay in NYC, the fact that you love AA but are not applying to M because it's too far from NYC, and everything else you've written in this thread, I dont think this is anywhere near the CR. Though he's right, and you'd probably be in.

ED NYU and enjoy the Village.
Not EDing would be riskier, but the upside being you could end up with like 25k.
Up to you to decide if the risk is worth the potential for like 25k or whatever you'd get at NYU, which I doubt is much.

You should ED to your choice of Columbia or NYU.

That said, honestly, I'd think a deferral to RD might be even better for you anyway. If you can get you GPA ~3.6, you'll at least get to/above 25% at most of your target schools and with a LSAT>75% I think the GPA bump would be valuable. I could even see you getting some $ from one or more T10 schools.

I'd send around some application fee waiver requests and pepper the T14 and other regional schools (Fordham, GW, BU, BC) with apps to leverage scholarship $.
