3.49/172->174 chances of $$ T14 Forum

Hey everyone,

My GPA is 3.49, I've taken the LSAT twice, and scored 172 then 174. Large state ugrad, no WE, no softs, very weak resume .. Assume below average LORs, and average PS (this is all kind of gloomy worst-case scenario). What do you think my chances for $$ at the T14 or UCLA/USC are? I'm trying to figure out if I'll get money at some T14 schools, and if I'm not, I'll probably choose my favorite one and ED.

It is decently likely that you will get money from Michigan/UVa/maybe Penn and Duke/Cornell/NW with WE. Not sure bet but likely. If you want one of CCN, then ED.

I applied this cycle with a 3.49/173. Results are in my profile. As for money in the T-14... Really from what I saw the only one you can count on (if you get in) is michigan, who seems very formulaic. Other than them I wouldn't expect anything especially with a bland background. Got 60k from duke off of the WL but nobody w/ my numbers really got in RD and def. not with that kind of money (told them about mich's offer which they matched). I put a lot of work into my mich app. and was fine with the idea of going there. I wanted to avoid sticker, if I could, so I rolled the dice and applied to 16 schools. I am happy with how my cycle went. That being said if mich and/or duke went another way I would have been pretty unhappy looking at cornell/georgetown sticker and would prob have ended up at vandy w/50k. I think the key thing for people with our numbers is deciding whether or not to ED. Schools like Duke, UVA, Chicago, and maybe even Columbia may be taken off the table cause admission without ED isn't very likely. I would use LSN to look at your likely options (including people who used ED) then if you would choose one of the schools at sticker over ones where you might get money at, ED there.

I'll echo dabbadon's comments. If you get into Michigan you will get money, probably 54k. You'll probably be lucky to get anything more than 30-40k out of anyone else in the T14. One exception was a guy with similar #s who got a big chunk of change out of GULC who translated it into good money throughout the rest of his T14 admits.

You'll probably get at least 1 of CCN at sticker though, which may be your best bet depending on your goals and risk tolerance.
