Should I retake? 3.95/161

I'm trying to decide if I should retake the LSAT. I will be a senior in undergrad this fall, and I'm going to start applying for 2012. I'm mainly looking at southern public schools, like UTK, Bama, and Ole Miss. I'm from TN, so my top option is UTK. I studied off and on through most of the spring semester, and studied for 3-4 hours a day after the semester ended. I would rather not take it again, but I'm just not sure if that score is good enough to get me in, and scholarship money would be nice. I usually only miss 2-3 on RC, but 6 or 7 on LG and LR sections, so there is lots of room for improvement. Btw, I'm female, but not minority. Would it be worth it to try and take it in October? Would it matter to the schools I am looking at that I took it twice?

if you really think that you can do better than 161 than you should retake. with your gpa an lsat in the high 160's would give you a full-ride to UTK. a retake could mean a $50,000 difference for you. think of it that way.

yes. 3.9x+ 170+ = T14 if not T6

Put in the work

Since I only spent about 3 weeks religiously studying, I would have almost 2 months to seriously study before school started again. After that, it would be harder. I think I could definately get a 165. I'm not so sure about higher than that.

+5 points would probably mean in at Vandy with $ and increase scholly substantially at everywhere you're looking. Retake.

definitely retake

3.95 is a great great great GPA, if you can hit 170+ you'll be looking at a lot of $$$ from the T13

Flame?

No seriously, if you're missing that much on LG and LR you can definitely stand to improve. It's possible you just weren't doing enough of the right kinds of studying. If you can get 6-7 down to even 3-4 then you're going to be on the cusp of, if not at, 170. And 170 and 3.95 and you're looking really good.

As someone who just went through the cycle, one thing I wish I had though more about with respect to pushing it on the LSAT is not just the doors a higher score opens for you, but the money it gives you as well. When you start looking at potential debt loads you'll wish you had at least done everything within your power.

Don't accept anything less than -0 on the logic games. And don't go into it thinking you just need a good enough score to get money from UTK or even Vandy. Think big, really believing you can get every question right, and you'll end up in great shape no matter how it all turns out.

This is TCR. If you want to stay in the south. Duke/UVA/Vandy should be your top 3 (IMO) and a 170 will get you there. A 165 might give you a weak shot at Vandy and def. 'Bama
