Top Law Schools

Took the LSAT for the first time this past June. Got a 166, something on the high end of my PTs but made some errors that can easily be corrected. Pretty solid softs at this point. My two schools I'd love to go to are Michigan and Cornell (preferably with a little money off). I know both are reaches right now, but do I have any shot with those numbers? Or would I necessarily need a better LSAT to have a realistic shot? Thanks!

With that LSAT, you should probably blanket T14 and hope for the best. You might have a shot at Cornell, but it's not a good one.

If you were to improve your LSAT score by just a few points, you'd have a much more promising chance at most of T14.

I would retake, but apply as well. Both of these schools are possible with your current stats. Cornell may be better than 50/50 if you apply on September 1.

You are out at all the T-14, including Cornell, with RD. Even with ED, you are still out, since you are not above UVA or GULC's 75ths for GPA.

You need to retake, or take the money at WUSTL, UIUC, UM, or IUB and run.

I don't think OP is out at Cornell necessarily. With a really early application, and OP helps one median.

Also, do I have a good shot at money at Maryland and GW?

You'll get into GW, but it's not worth sticker.

Maryland I've heard is pretty stingy with money (well, actually I had kind of similar but reversed stats (3.66/168) and didn't get anything, but that could have been an outlier). Also, if you went there, be prepared to work in Baltimore.

OP, I wouldn't "settle" for Maryland or GW.

Feel free to apply early, but study your ass off for the October LSAT and then send schools that score as well. As glewz mentioned, a few extra points (even a 168) improves your chancespretty dramatically -- and if you can hit 170, then you are talking about acceptances a few acceptancesbelow the T6 and some money. With proper preparation, a few more points is doable and o so WORTH IT.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I'm going to read Manhattan RC and Powerscore LG and LR before the October test and hope to hit 170.
