Top Law Schools

Hey everybody, I was hoping you guys could give me some feedback on how good a shot I have at some of these schools. I go to the University of Florida and am majoring in Economics in the business school. Letters of recommendation won't be mind-blowing, but the personal statement should be solid. Thanks in advance.

Probably will get 1-2 of CCN. Maybe all 3, depending on the rest of your app.

What kind of hispanic?

YHS - You will probably get at least 1 and probably 2-3.
CCN - You would be in even if you weren't a URM.
MPVD - No question you are most likely in (UVA is a ? bc of in-state & YP), probably in line for big $$$.

Cuban. Also, straight out of undergrad

As a fellow Cuban applicant, I can tell you that Cubans are not considered URMs. You should definitely write about it in your PS/DS though. But honestly, with your numbers you've got a chance just about everywhere.

You don't even get a slight boost? Anyway, in at CCN. That GPA might be too low for HLS and SLS if no URM.

Basic gist is no one can tell you for sure how the "other hispanic" category is treated by LS admissions officers. It may even be different by school. Your numbers are good though. I think you have a legitimate shot at H, but it would be better if you took a year or two off and worked.

I've notice that the midwest schools tend to give Cubans a boost. For example, I was WL'd at Michigan with numbers below both 25th percentiles. Some other schools may give you a slight boost as well, but it is nothing compared to the boost a Mexican or Puerto Rican would get. If it had been I probably would have had a much better cycle. If I were you I'd blanket the T14 and see what you get/who gives you the most money. Good luck.

I can't say I'm not surprised at some of the responses. Looking through the numbers makes me think I'm going to have a rough time with just about all MVPD. I guess that's why I'm asking the experts lol
