My sense of the situation, from what I've read thus far, is that my numbers are high enough to warrant applying to HYS, but my softs are potentially weak enough to throw me out of contention. I'd be interested to know everyone else's opinion. Also, any advice regarding how to pad my resume in the months leading up to September would be appreciated.

You've got a shot at HYS. No softs doesn't mean you're shut out, it just means you have to tailor your app effectively. Numbers alone should put you in a great spot for superb schollies from MVP and at least something from CCN.

You're above both medians at H and have been out of school for a year (albeit without a lot of flashy accomplishments), I would venture to guess that you will get in. Stanford and Yale could be dazzled by your PS or 250 in the case of Yale. However, you are right to not put all of your eggs in the HYS basket and be somewhat skeptical of your admissions chances.
