If I felt compelled to ED...

What would be my best option?
I've got a 168 (after a cancel and 2 takes) with a 3.81 GPA.
I would love to go to UMich, but wouldn't be able to do the summer start, and I'm afraid I won't get in without ED.

Michigan, UVA, Penn, Duke
Pick your favorite.

Unfortunately, I can't ED UMich because of the summer start. I think I'd really like to go to UPenn, but for some reason I feel like it's the MOST out of reach of all of these. Any truth to that feeling?
Also, I'm below both of UVA's medians, so I'm afraid that might not work. Am I being overly pessimistic? =(
Which of these schools are known to give the biggest boosts to ED applicants?
Thoughts?

Yes you are pretty much out of reach at all these places. You GPA is short by .1 and your LSAT is short by 2 points.
Since you can't do UMich you should do Duke. An quick LSN search showed that the only 3.8x/16x's that got in ED to a non-UMich T14 were 166/3.83 and 167/3.83 at Duke. I could have missed some but there were definitely none at Penn or UVa (there was one at UMich).
Your best hope in the T14 without ED is probably Duke/UMich/Cornell. Or, if you are still in school raising your GPA to a 3.85 would definitely help as well (at least when looking on LSN).

So I'm an idiot and just realized you could search ED candidates on LSN.
Anyway, after looking, I couldn't really glean anything from Penn's chart, because no one really had stats similar to mine. UVA looks like a WL or Deny waiting to happen.
Would taking the LSAT a fourth time be beneficial if I could score 170+?

If you really want to go to Michigan and there is anything you could do that would allow you to start in the summer, seriously consider making yourself available for the summer.

I'm one of the two Duke EDs that bk noted.... I struggled with the ED or not ED question quite a bit, though granted I did so at a much later stage in the cycle than you are doing it. I had a 167, if I had a 168 I almost assuredly would have held off on EDing. If you love Mich and absolutely can't commit to summer start, don't ED to another school just for a T14 acceptance (you'll probably get into Cornell EA/RD as it is). Write a kick-ass why Michigan essay and really show the admissions office that you want to go.
