Top Law Schools

Hi All!

I was hoping I could get some feedback as to the likelihood/possibility of me getting in to some law schools in Texas. I graduated from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in May 2010 with a 3.86 cumulative GPA. My major was Political Science. I took the LSAT twice in 2009, once in October and once in December. I scored a 148 in October and a 144 in December. I'm taking/took a couple years off and am hoping to go to law school in Fall of 2012. I just completed a Kaplan Extreme Advanced course (I won't expound on how I feel about that class) and I just took the LSAT again this past Monday, June 06, 2011. So, I've taken the LSAT a total of 3 times. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to move to Texas and go to law school there, preferably at one of these schools: SMU Dedman, Texas Southern University, The University of Texas School of Law, and University of Houston Law Center. So with all of that being said, can you guys and gals give me some feedback as to my chance of getting in?

why did you create 2 threads saying the exact same thing

I heard UT prefers students from the state.

Your post SCREAMS retake. Just a few questions. How did you approach studying outside the course? Did you do very extensive review? (Glancing over right answers is NOT extensive btw, writing out sentence explanations for every answer choice on EVERY wrong answer is what you need to do) What were your score trends? Did you choke on the LSAT.

Your GPA sets you up to get into the very best Texas school (UTA), but that LSAT is going to keep you out of all schools except the very bottom of the barrel. Kaplan may not have been up to the quality you need in an LSAT course. Consider investing in Testmasters, Powerscore, or Blueprint.

As it stands right now, the only school you have even a vague chance at is Texas Southern. Don't go there.

Retake if this LSAT doesn't go well. With that GPA, some school will sponsor the retake.

Also, it's UT, not UTA. UTA is in Arlington.

I've already taken it 3 times now. Don't schools frown upon that if they don't see big score jumps? I approached studying outside the course very extensively. I did problem after problem and reviewed all the incorrect and correct answers. My score trends are right around the high 140s low 150s (my lowest is a 144 and my highest is a 155). I didn't choke on the LSAT, I just don't think I'm getting it! And it's very frustrating for someone who got a 28 on their ACT without much studying. but what you're saying is what I needed to hear and what I've been thinking. A 148 is just too low. I want the best quality of education possible. And it seems as if I won't be able to do that with a 148.

I feel as if this LSAT didn't really go any worse, but I'm not too confident it was better either.

I don't think schools look too harshly on big score jumps. Here is my LSAT history: 160, 161 and 173. My UGPA is 3.8. I was admitted across the T14 and am Harvard bound in the fall. Study and retake is the answer.

Not as much as they will frown upon your current scores.
