How much of a difference does a 3.15 vs a 3.28 /172 LSAT make for admission into t20/t14?

Is a 2.4k investment worth the cost for summer retakes for a 1+ point raise? Or would a LSAT investment re-take for a 178+ be wiser?

Goal: Best law program that can get.

3.6/169+ is pretty near full tuition at WUSTL iirc. And if this person isn't happy with T20 with scholly, of course he/she should retake. If they can bump it up to 172+, everything is on the table but HYS and maybe B. Even a 168 probably easily snags Cornell.

And I don't think there's much difference between a 3.15/172 and a 3.28/172. 3.4 would be big I think. I applied to most of my schools in October as a 3.2/172, and ended up retaking for a 176 in Feb. Not aware that it has made any difference except for a negative one (putting my applications on hold while decisions were being made). Maybe it would be different if I we're reapplying, but honestly, 172 is at or above median at every school but H/Y. I think you'd be better served working on the rest of your application and getting it submitted as soon as allowed.

I'm assuming you've considered this: "All grades and credits earned for repeated courses will be included in the GPA calculation if the course units and grades appear on the transcript. A line drawn through course information or a grade does not eliminate the course from GPA calculation if the course units appear on the transcript."

I don't have any advice except to double check with your school that those grades will no longer appear on your transcript before you spend the $$$.

I doubt a 3.28/172 is a significant advantage over a 3.15/172. But hey, if you don't mind spending 2400 it couldn't hurt. I also doubt a 3.15/178 has a large advantage over a 3.15/172, but it might have a small. You're already over median at most schools. Though I do think a 3.15/178 is better than a 3.28/172. However you can't really guarantee that you will score that much higher even if you are PT'ing at 178+.

3.6/165 probably isn't getting into the T20 let alone getting a scholarship to one of them. If you want a T20 as a 3.6/165 then you need to retake. Also, T20 is kind of a misnomer because it lumps in disparate schools. WUSTL/GW are not in the same tier of schools as UT/Vandy/USC/UCLA. WUSTL/GW are much more similar to BC/BU/Fordham/Emory/Illinois/etc so getting money at BC/BU/etc would be the same as getting money at WUSTL/GW (in terms of how valuable it is). Though, some of those schools (e.g. WUSTL) are much more generous with scholarship money.

Oops, I misread OP's 2nd question as 3.6/169 I guess. Yeah, 165 is a pretty big negative difference from 169.
