I transferred schools after my sophomore year... lots of personal reasons. My roommate was suicidal and a very close family member passed away. I completely switched majors and programs (I was pre-med before, science major) in hopes of improving my g.p.a. At my new school, I have a 3.38 cum gpa, because my failed grades at the old school aren't counted in my gpa, and I've made nothing but A's and B's. After factoring them in through lawpad.com, I ended up with a 2.46 g.p.a overall......!?!?
I'm really freaking out. I feel like all hope for me is diminished. I was hoping to get into UT Austin or SMU, my dream school was Georgetown. The highest I've gotten so far on my practice LSAT is a 160 and I'm taking it in June. I've been trying really hard to get a 170, slowly inching there, and these next two weeks are going to be my final shot. What do you guys think I should do? Is all hope lost? I'm really, really saddened by this... I don't know what to do. I'm taking two classes abroad over the summer, but that won't seem to make much of a difference... I'll still be in the 2.0 range....
If you are still making progress on your LSAT, take an absence this June, and try in Sept. Get a 170, and take a half ride scholarship at SMU. Utexas and Gtown are never going to happen.

you'll have a tough road ahead of you. with that low gpa though, i'd say go ahead and use a "take" instead of an absence for some experience. no school that accepts you will give a shit if you take the LSAT once, twice, or four times.

Whether you take the LSAT in June or not, if you have good reason to believe you could have done more to improve your score, retake in October.
Also, this is important: the June LSAT is in THREE weeks. The fact that you are confused about the date suggests to me that your study regimen is nowhere near the level it should be at, which reinforces the point above.

GULC or UT is a virtual impossibility with you GPA. The only T14 that you have even a remote chance at is NU w/ WE and this is assuming you have a 172+ or so. I agree with the above posters that you shouldn't take it in June. Postpone your LSAT to at least October and aim for that 170+.

All hope is not lost. But you chances of admissions to UT of Gtown are near zero. I would postpone till October and shoot for a 172+.

hm...take BS summer online courses? i recommend clovis community based in new mexico. i think it is only $125 for 3 credit hours? i think maybe you can bring your GPA up to 2.8. but in the end, just study for the LSAT. i think the general consensus on this board (people who've been through the process) and admissions "professionals" (anna ivey, some deans, etc.) is that numbers come first. you can choose to believe what you want though.
if you have the LSAC waiver, then nothing should stop you from throwing out a super hail mary pass to UT/Georgetown. but even w/ a 180, it'd be tough. GL.
