GPA floors apply to everyone.JamMasterJ wrote:Any school is possible as a black male with that kind of LSAT score. The most likely way you could get dinged would be as a result of gpa floors (though I am not sure that those apply to URMs)
Obv make sure you write about your parents in a diversity essay.
While it is good to give people realistic expectations, I think Yale and Stanford at least can and do take extraordinary applicants. They are at the level of prestige where a couple ridiculous gpa's and lsat's don't matter to them.NikaneOkie wrote:GPA floors apply to everyone.JamMasterJ wrote:Any school is possible as a black male with that kind of LSAT score. YHS are all out. But, you should think of applying, and being ready to ride out some WLs, at all other schools.
Also, if at all possible, take online or summer courses and pad your GPA.
Fee waivers make all applications worthwhile (I applied to Yale for that reason).DreamsInDigital wrote:While it is good to give people realistic expectations, I think Yale and Stanford at least can and do take extraordinary applicants. If the OP has a compelling addendum (which from the original post I think is very likely), work experience that demonstrates proven leadership ability while shouldering a lot of responsibility, and can articulate a strong reason for wanting to attend law school, anything is possible.
It seems that Harvard is more numbers based, so I'd leave that out. But since op is likely to get a lot of fee waivers because of the lsat, it would be worth it to throw apps at Yale and Stanford.
Legit. I think we agree, It is pretty unlikely that OP will get into Yale or Stanford, but since he probably won't pay for most of his other applications the 200 dollars for YS would be worth it.NikaneOkie wrote:Fee waivers make all applications worthwhile (I applied to Yale for that reason).DreamsInDigital wrote:While it is good to give people realistic expectations, I think Yale and Stanford at least can and do take extraordinary applicants...NikaneOkie wrote:GPA floors apply to everyone.JamMasterJ wrote:

It is a fact though, that the lowest GPA Yale accepted last year was a 3.38. That includes URM candidates.
