Top Law Schools

I think obviously I need to apply to wustl. Where else do I have even a glimmer of a chance, and is there anything I can do to strengthen my apps? Softs include on-campus leadership activities and volunteer hours.

WUSTL is your best bet, as far as rankings go. But where do you want to practice? Apply early and try to strengthen your application as much as possible. Also consider UIUC, UMN, IU-B, GW, and William & Mary.

I love NYC but would prefer *any* major metro area.

How many times have you taken the LSAT? I think bumping up your score into 170+ range could increase your chances as a spitter a fair amount. I believe you have a shot at IUB, but am not certain. I think it is good that you are considering what splitter-friendly schools to apply to, because with that GPA I think you are likely to get mostly rejects even at lower T1 level (and prob high T2 level as well), unless the school is known for being splitter-friendly.

Retake, and try for GW (you might get wait-listed with your current stats). For NYc, try Fordham (unlikely), Brooklyn and Cardozo. UIUC can get you NYC also, but unlikely.

Retake. Otherwise just make sure there are no major flaws in your PS or other application materials and target splitter-friendly schools.

This is gospel in your case. If next cycle is anything like this one, IU-B will likely give you a full-ride. The Midwest, for some reason is easily the most splitter friendly region, so hit WUSTL, UIUC, IUB, Minnesota, Wisconsin and OSU (though OSU is a bit less splitter friendly). However, a 170 would mean $$ at WUSTL and some work experience and a 172 could get you a shot a Northwestern

Even with WE and 172, I still doubt Northwestern (though not impossible). For "major metro areas" outside of Wustl maybe look at Emory, Hastings, or even SMU.
