Mediocre to weak softs

What are my chances at CCN and MVP? Thanks!
I (nor probably anyone) can say for sure, but I think CCN will look at you as a 172 (your average) unless they really like the rest of your application because there's only a 2 point difference. If you want to go to MVP, make sure you write strong why x school essays (I didn't and I got waitlisted at all 3) and you should be fine at those 3. CCN will be a crapshoot but if numbers go down this year, you may have a decent shot.

In terms of retaking, I personally don't think you should re-take unless your practice averages were 177 or higher because 173 is already in the 99th percentile and who knows what could happen on test-day.

Hope that helps, best of luck!

Thanks for the reply! Good to know about the possibility of CCN averaging. Regarding the retake, my PT average was like 178 before each test. But the fact that I've twice failed to score that high sort of implies that I might not be able to, even on a third try.

Just my two cents, but if you took those tests under test-like conditions with an extra section for an experimental and scored a 178 average, then I think you should re-take because you could definitely score higher. The problem is that you may not score that 5 points higher that can often invalidate your old scores, but your scores are already so high that it might just help you get some money. 178 and higher scores are incredibly rare, and I could see you getting some money at a CCN or a school higher with that score.

I was able to get into CCN with almost identical numbers (my softs are somewhat unique, but nothing crazy). I don't know if I would recommend an additional retake in your situation; 173 is pretty damn good.

You'll probably get NYU, and you have a decent shot at CLS and Chicago.

I would use the time that you otherwise would've set aside for more LSAT prep to work on your personal statement & stuff.

NYU if you apply early. Chicago if you have a strong application along with it. Columbia, who knows? Good chance that you don't but could go either way.

Another retake won't earn you major brownie points with 2 already similar scores, but should score you some scholarship money. Otherwise I think you need to prep yourself for the high likelihood of sticker at all 3.

I would say coin flip at CCN, but I bet you get one to bite, maybe more. Much better chance at MVP, probably 2 of the 3, if not all 3, and potential $ since your LSAT is above their medians. Depending on how much debt you're willing to take on, you may want to figure out which of CCN you like best and ED.

Also, I vote against a retake. I don't think its necessary unless you want YHS, and even then it's your GPA keeping you out, not your LSAT.

85% sure you don't need to ED to NYU. You'll be cutting it a tiny bit close if you don't (I ED'd with slightly lower #s), but I think you safely fit inside the window. ED to CLS might be worth it if you're a fan.

Eh, my numbers were maybe a touch better (173 single shot), waitlisted at Chicago, in at CLS and NYU. I have a ton of WE though.

Personally I wish I'd taken the LSAT again - I didn't PT very much at all, but to me that just meant that 173 should've been higher. You can take it again, but it seems like you should be in at NYU RD with your current numbers.
