Will I get in George Mason Law?

I scored a 149 on the lsat in December 2010 and applied as a part time student to George Mason Law School. I have not heard back at this point and I also took the February 2011 lsat and improved to a 158. I attend a private college in North Carolina where I am the student body president. I also have a 3.89 lsac gpa and I am a resident of Virginia. What are my chances of getting in to George Mason at this point?

After being accepted and visiting I ask you: why would you want to?

In response to the previous comments, I am not a URM and am in fact, a white male. Additionally, I do not wish to retake the LSAT as I have already endured that test twice. I wish to attend George Mason because of the in-state tuition I could gain as well as my interest in economics and the jd/mpp option available to me in the Washington, D.C. area. Please let me know what you think my chances are of getting into the program this year. I applied for BOTH the full-time and part-time program with the stats of 158 lsat and 3.89 gpa. I also previously took the LSAT and scored a 149 but George Mason says they take the higher of the two scores. What are my odds of admission? PS - Law School Predictor indicates I am exactly at 50%.

I honestly think you will likely be out unless you get your application in hella early.
Best of luck with your application.

According to LSN, only 3 applicants with a 3.8 or higher got dinged and they were weird b/c one got into Northwestern with $$$ another got Penn and the third got Chicago. So I'm guessing Yield Protect. You're definitely a reverse splitter, making you difficult to predict, but I wouldn't be as pessimistic as many on here suggest.

I just received a notice earlier today that I have been put on the waitlist at George Mason. Furthermore, I was waitlisted for both the full time and part time programs. What do you think my chances are of getting accepted off the waitlist?

The problem is that your lsat sucks. Mason's median lsat is 164 (6 points is a pretty big differential to overcome if not a urm). But, in your favor, it looks like Mason is pretty reverse splitter friendly (their median gpa is 3.72--with a median gpa that high, their median lsat should be close to 170s--so they probably took a lot of reverse splitters). I'd say 50/50 shot, but I just wouldn't count on it.

I think you will definitely make it...Your LSAT meets there 25th percentile and your GPA is higher then there 75th percentile. Stay positive.
