Top Law Schools

Hello,
I was a History major who graduated with a 3.3 from a T40 liberal arts school in 2006. I’ve been working a successfully as a paralegal since. I recently took the LSAT and wound up with a 156 (the weak link).

Do I have a shot at
- $$ from New England Law
- Suffolk
- Northeastern (early decision)?

You should retake. As of now you're likely out at NE, in at Suffolk, and in at NESL with 20k. Those aren't good options though.

Beg you to retake man. I'm going to assume you haven't maxed out your ability to take the LSAT. Another 5 points gets you into MUCH better schools, another 10 points gets you a LOT more money.

I'm definitely going to study then retake. I really appreciate the responses. Out of morbid curiosity, what score would it take a get substantial scholarship (full or half) to NESL?

I honestly don't see an instance where you would want to go there. Suffolk with $$$, NE with $$ or BU/BC are the only reasonable options imho. The legal market is a competitive place and you need to aim high if you want to succeed. don't try to find an LSAT score that is adequate. have a 180 or bust mentality and see where it takes you. Can I ask how much you studied before the 156 and what you were PTing at?

The only reason I ask about NESL is because I am interested in becoming a JAG. I just need a degree from an ABA accredited school, and having little or no debt would really help. Otherwise I would never even waste my time with that place.

I really didn't study as much as I could have for the LSAT. I took a few PTs that were in the low to mid 150s. I consistently bombed the logic games.

I had same goals as you, originally, with a 157. Then I got on TLS :-p I ended up retaking (twice actually), and now I'm choosing between Northwestern, GULC and BU. Here's some tips if you do decide to retake:

I think JAG is pretty damn selective. Like around 10%.
