Can I transfer to UNC?

My number one choice coming out of undergrad for law school was UNC (I graduated from UNCW), but my psychology major, my 3.55 GPA, and my 160 LSAT just weren't enough to get me past the waitlist. After a semester at the South Carolina School of Law I have a 3.61 GPA, and I'm considering putting in a transfer application to UNC. Class rankings aren't posted yet, but according to last years rankings I believe I would be inside or right around the top 10%. I'm a NC resident, and would love to transfer if possible. I don't have many extra-curricular activities aside from joining the GOP law society, which I doubt will serve me well applying to UNC, so I won't get much support there.

What are my chances?

Thanks for the input Dexter. Give me a percent though. So, like 30%?

Top 10% at USC + NC Resident + near miss numbers the first go round? Keep your grades up and get a good recommendation and I'd say 60-70%.

I think you have a good chance. However, based on what I've read I think you can increase that chance by demonstrating a real need to go to UNC.

Any estimates given to you here (not just by me, anyone) are completely speculative and should be given extremely minimal weight by you.

There's only way to know and that's to swing it. But, tbh, I'd say your chances are prolly slim. UNC entry class cannot be that big and I'm actually not that sure that t10% at USC is that impressive. If you were No. 1, sure. Anyway, good luck. Prepare to remain a Gamecock.
