Is Stanford pretty much a wild card for everyone? Looking at LSN, it seems that they have no problem rejecting people with high LSAT and GPA.

Is it possible for someone with just ok ECs to get in to Stanford?

over 100 views and no replies? I guess Stanford is a wild card for everyone. Or, do I have so little chance due to a lack of strong softs that nobody here wants to bust my bubble?

I think everyone wants to say theres no way you don't get in with those numbers... but that's exactly what you are asking. The people who know the answer are at Stanford laughing at the rest of us.

I have approximately a 3.95 and 175, and have already been admitted to Stanford. I think that the PS is much more important than ECs - mine were about as good as yours.

What are my chances? My ECs are ok (including internship with a top selling fund, study abroad, lobbying congressional member in DC, and other typical stuff). Is it possible for someone with just ok ECs to get in to Stanford?
No chance. At any schools. At all.

Every year, SLS takes 5 or fewer from my school, while HLS takes about 20 and even YLS takes about 10. This makes me think that SLS is a true wild card.

The "little over" bit comes off as super douchey. Just thought you should know.

^Thanks for letting me know. I'll make sure I take note of that. I'll say something like 3.85-3.95 (huge range since I'm still a third year in college where A's aren't predictable).

Super douchey, or just a little douchey?

You need to seriously reconsider going to Standford even if you get in. The economy is so bad even people from the T2 (top 2) arent getting jobs. STTTanford is going to drown you in debt and no job prospects. You def need to retake. If are still set on law school you should probably ED to UVA. Right now.

Stanford is a blackbox, even more so than Yale in my opinion. To get into SLS, You should keep you GPA high above 3.9.

As to the comments about "a little over," I personally don't think there is anything wrong with it, but remember that many people here are trolls and are very envious of high numbers.

Thanks for the advise.

FishOil wrote:My apologies OP. I thought you had a solid number for your GPA (i.e. if you had a 3.94 just say it). I think a range would provide you with better feedback.

As for the LSAT, what the sh*t does "a little over" 175 mean. If you have a number just put it out there. If you have not taken the LSAT yet, then you are assuming way too much. Many a TLS'er has not lived up to his/her expectations.

Hope this was a more productive post.

You should be in at harvard. For Yale and Stanford, you should have as good of chance as any, but, like others have said, it's more unpredictable.

Not too many people on here will be able to give you a good idea of your chance. I'd recommend LSN and hourumd.com and looking through profiles of admits to Stanford and Yale to try and get a decent grasp on what softs they put on there.

Alternatively, you can try to PM some people who currently go to Stanford and see if any of them are nice enough to provide you with their numbers and softs, and what they feel like made them get accepted.

Edit: A place to start- http://www.hourumd.com/?school=Stanford ... at=175-180

Come on. Your ECs are "OK" and "typical"? And you're a "little over" 3.9 and 175? You are a stellar applicant to any school-- if you come off as a little less ridiculous in your applications you're probably in everywhere.

I think you are a little over the threshold for a douchebag.

G-d, you've got to be one of the top handful of applicants numerically in the country.

Still, above a certain threshold, numbers just don't matter much for Stanford and Yale, your softs also have to be top-notch.
