Still in UG at a large public state school strong upward grade trend after a blow up semester fall sophomore year.
3.92 in major. All non A/A-'s came from upper level science and math courses like O-chem.
Residency: Wyoming (someone said this might help due to geographic diversity?)
Major: Polisci (switched from premed)
Softs: Medium
WE: Medium (didn't sit around, but no stellar internships or jobs)
Recs: Stellar (weren't written by Nobel winners, or senators, but they are very thorough and talk a lot about my abilities, personality, and work ethic.)
PS: strong
DS: strong, talks about race and being from a small rural area.
I'm late in the cycle, retook my june lsat this december so apps aren't going in until next week once my transcript gets updated, but applying next year isn't an option due to money.
Chances at HYS, CCN, rest of top 14?

With decent softs and LOR's H and S are in sight. In everywhere else.

I'm thinking that I have no chance at y with their small class size and not breaking 170

With Y you never know, but you are probably correct. It still is worth a shot if it's what you really want. I would not put your chances for Y at 0, but they are not very high.

Should be good for CCN down, maybe H. Y and S are crapshoots.

I thought I would have a better chance at S than H simply based on numbers.
Does state residency play into either? I can't imagine there are that many applying from my state. Though I don't know, S&H are probably littered with applicants from the midwest

I think H will be easier. I'm no expert, but because of their small class size, S can pick and choose people with something special. In part, that is why their LSAT median is 170. If they wanted, I'm sure they could raise it to 172 or so.
State residency does not matter, as both are private schools.

Ah, I was under the impression that geographic diversity mattered to some private schools. I know it matters for HYP undergrad as applicants from the underpopulated midwest states often get in with slightly lower stats (or was the case on college confidential years ago). I'm going to put my money on H I guess since they have a large class size.
