Why so many? Unless you killed someone, write an error free ps that is halfway decent. Go to Yale. Profit.

Dude no offense but you're wasting everyone's time with this post. Obviously a 180 and a 3.79 will get you anywhere in the country.

Re: LSAT 180, GPA 3.79
I disagree with the certainty being applied to whether you'll get accepted to Harvard or Yale that was in one of the first posts due to the selectivity of the process. I totally agree with the winnowing down of the places you should apply to. No offense to folks who went to UF or the University of Conneticut, but unless you have a real specific reason to go there...actually, no, with that kind of scorre, I don't see any reason why you should apply to those schools.

Also, I know the numbers I have are good, BUT, I also know that schools are crazy seriously competitive. So, I figured it was worth asking people who are better versed in law school lore than I am.
Thanks much y'all.

Re: LSAT 180, GPA 3.79
3.79 makes HLS a 50/50 for the OP. Yale probably 1/3. Stanford probably less than that. Maybe more since Ivy, but if it was a good Ivy OP would have mentioned it. Probably something crappy like Brown.T6Hopeful wrote:Enjoy Yale, if this isn't a flame...

Does Yale require a dean's evaluation? I thought that was Stanford.ljohns wrote:All materials will be in by Saturday (1/8) night except for the Dean's evaluation thing for Yale which I haven't gotten mailed yet.

Hey! Ljohns isn't a flame at all.
PS--Good luck, you're going to get in to some freaking awesome schools with great scholarships. I would drop some of those safeties though.

Re: LSAT 180, GPA 3.79
Echoing previous sentiments, apply to any of the T10 you would attend, and you're fine. That said, HYS are not quite guarantees with a 3.79/180. Especially Yale, which routinely rejects excellent stats for nebulous softs (in general, the initial posts on these threads seem to vastly overestimate odds of acceptance at Yale -- looking at LSN gives a far more depressing picture -- Also, do not put too much stock in LSPs odds of success at YS -- it seems to assume both schools are more interested in numbers than they truly are -- this coming from someone in at HS, but still miring in the Y black hole). All of that said, you still have a great shot at HYS, and should be a shoe-in at CCN, potentially with some rather nice scholarship offers -- just be sure the rest of your app is as strong as your stats! Good luck!

Yep, Yale started requiring a dean's cert this year.ljohns wrote:Yale too, apparently.existenz wrote:Does Yale require a dean's evaluation? HLS has a soft GPA floor at 3.8, but they also seem to prefer 178+ to 175~177 so I'd put OP's chances at slightly higher than 50/50. +1 on Yale and Stanford though.Desert Fox wrote:

i still dont understand why desert fox still posts so much on TLS. you are already in law school yet you can't seem to stay away from threads like these that are irrelevant to your stage in life. you remind me of one of those high school jocks that keep coming back to their high schools even when they are in their 40s in a feeble attempt to regain their "glory years". maybe you should focus more on studying since you are fighting an uphill battle with a degree from norttthwestttern.

"Hey, I need somebody with more experience than me to help me out with this decision - i.e. a law school student or a lawyer!"
....
"But, those LS students and lawyers are fucking losers for posting on here"
Yes, you'll definitely have glory years with this logic.
