foreign gpa 170

so yeah thought I'd do a more thorough one. foreign gpa "above average" cancel, 170. Softs really not much to speak of but here goes: eagle scout, honors dissertation with high mark, university surf team captain, worked since I was 14 my last job during my junior and senior year was through my school's disability service (I took notes for special needs students). Oh and I guess being American but doing my undergrad abroad is kinda a soft?
here is my list:
Penn--hail mary play
Boalt-- second hail mary
UVA ED-- here's hoping
Duke-- Targetish?
Mich-- Targetish?
Vandy-- Target
USC-- Target
Cornell--Target?
Gtown--Target?
UT-- just south of target
UCLA-- Target?
USD-- Safety
so yeah there are a few question marks there and I thank you all for whatever help or advice you could give, i know its late in the cycle so i'm really not sure how i stand with a lot of these schools.
thanks

anyone have any thoughts? I know foreign apps are pretty hard to judge but I'd be super happy to hear what TLS thinks.
thanks

I really don't know how effectively to account for the lack of a GPA, so if other posters have more knowledge I'll defer to them. UVA's median is 170, but even with ED, if you are OOS I don't know if you will get it. I think, without a GPA, softs become extra important. Duke, you are above the median LSAT so I think that's where you can start feeling good about your chances. Again, if anyone with more knowledge of foreign applicant cycles chimes in, I'd rely on their predictions more.

Wrong. Duke's median is 170.

Haha that's why I put it at target-ISH because I really didn't know. I'm at Mich's 75th and 1 point below Penn's i just was kinda trying to go by that. Mich seems to take a lot more sub 170's than Penn as well.

Not exactly in your boat but I have an "Above Average" too and a 176+ LSAT score. I guess Michigan should be a good bet for you. Also, not having a GPA is kind of useful for everything except HYS (for someone with an Above Average) as it does not feed into the law school stats. I think that as long as you are above the school's median LSAT score, you have a pretty good shot.

HYS care about your International GPA?

since they can afford to pretty much reject anyone they please since they have so many apps with outstanding numbers they will probably care more about how lsac classifies you. For HYS you'd want to be "superior" instead of "above average".

Can I qualify as superior if my International GPA is 3.6?

You don't predict your rating. LSAC decides it based on your university and few other things. I had a 2:1, which is supposed to be around 4.5/5 in the university I attended, but I was classified as "Above Average". And as FlanAl said, HYS probably reject anyone without a "Superior". That hasn't stopped me from applying to them though.

Well it would be interesting to see how your cycle goes at HYS. You have got Columbia locked with that LSAT score, I would think. Best of luck, you will have your pick of great schools to choose from.

someone with a lower lsat and lower gpa rating got columbia ed so i'd say your chances there are really strong sentinels

No worries! Was only joking lol
And in terms of Vandy and UT, I'd say you're in but no significant $$. I put you into LSP with a 3.6 and a 170, which is about what I would translate a highish "above average" to... Obviously I don't know anything for sure, but that's my gut feeling... don't even know if they know *how* to allocate money to "internationals" (and by that I mean Americans who got degrees abroad).
It'll be great to see though - I'm keeping an eye on you!

thanks for the advice!

So, how did your UVA ED go? I'm assuming you should have heard back by now
