I took the October lsat and got a 166. I was scoring in the low 170's in early september but then went on a study abroad semester and my study schedule obviously got screwed up. I was really hoping for t14 (i have a 3.81 lsdas gpa) but that is not happening with my score. I am thinking of retaking, what would I need now for CCN? Will i have to do that much better on the lsats (175 and above) now that i screwed up the first time?

168/169 for a small shot at the T14. 170+ to make sure you get at least one T14.
CCN may or may not average, the evidence is anecdotal. It seems like NYU averages sometimes and takes the highest the others though the others seem not to. I don't think you'll necessarily need a 175+ for CCN, as I believe they are generally moving towards taking the highest for the most part.
I would definitely retake if I were you. Waiting till next cycle is easily worth the shot at increasing your LSAT, which it seems is very likely for you.

With a 3.8. A 168 will get OP Cornell, almost undoubtedly. A 169 will get OP several t14 with a 3.8. And, for CCN, you will need a 172.

TLS law school profile: NYU averages multiple LSAT scores.

With a similiar GPA to yours and a 167/174 (no addendum - bc I just had a meltdown on logic games) I am 8 for 8 so far and 6 for 6 in the T14 including NYU. If you know what went wrong and have a strategy to fix it then definitely retake - it will drastically change your cycle and a first lower score really won't hurt you (except potentially at HYS).
I believe Columbia and Berkeley both say they average if its under a 6 pt difference so jumping that gap will help you in a couple of places but again for most schools I've found the highest score is what counts.
That said applying this late results may vary...I got my apps in early in November.

You're right, I was being overly pessimistic. These predictions seem more accurate.
