Hey all, first time poster.

I currently have a 3.58 UGPA, 3.48 LSAC GPA and 166 LSAT score. Grades have been on a solid upclimb since end of freshman year. Poli Sci major, with IR and Justice minors. Solid internships, law-related summer jobs. A number of leadership positions on campus. Looking at:

NYU
Georgetown
Boston U
UCLA
GW
Fordham
Cardozo
Boston College
American
UConn
Miami
Brooklyn

I'd also appreciate any suggestions of other good schools that fit. I realize reach schools are hail mary's; strong family connections at NYU. Thanks!

Reasonable chance at all except NYU, Georgetown. Pretty low chance at UCLA.

BU/BC/GW/Fordham should be your targets. Consider adding Emory/ND/Illinois.

NYU - out
Georgetown - out

Fordham - in or w
Cardozo - in
Boston College - in or w
American - in $
UConn - in $$
Miami - in $$
Brooklyn - in $

You'll do fine. The GPA is a bit low but your LSAT is in the top ten percent, so you'll definitely get into some top 30 or 40 schools. Other possibilities are W&M (John Marshall) in Virginia and Indiana U - Bloomington, if you don't mind the midwest... and you seem very geographically open, based on your choices. Good luck!

oh forgot about school suggestions:

wash u in st. louis, illinois (free app fee i think), emory, and any other rank 20 schools you're interested in. Also hit any of the T15-20 schools whose state you live in/are near.

if you have work experience, northwestern

Fordham is probably out FT and GW is out (they have a pretty strong 167 wall). You guys are being way too optimistic. Fordham is in though, with PT and since GW cut their PT OP is probably still out, worth the app though. BC and BU are probably out, may hit one. UCLA and higher are out. Cardozo/ American and lower are in, maybe with $$$

Lawschoolnumbers people.

I duno man, Fordham has a 166 median with 25-75: 163-168. OP's GPA is on the low end, but probably has a decent enough chance (3.38, 3.62, 3.76: 25,med,75). A friend of mine got in a 165 & similar GPA.

The website should show that OP has a decent chance for GW

You are essentially my numbers twin (i had a marginally higher- barely higher- GPA, but basically the exact same).

I got waitlisted at a T25 school (currently just over 20) which I withdrew from because I was living in the area of the school and wanted something new. I applied to some ridiculous reaches such as a few T10, which did in fact prove to be a waste of money, but I can't say I totally regret it. I got a reject from an apprx T30 school, I think because they like a higher GPA, and I also heard their cycle last year was really tough. The school I choose is ranked apprx. 40 and I am here on a more than half-scholly. I had a fair amount of work experience and had some recs from some significant people (e.g. a judge I had sat under for a job), but I also had some factors that could have potentially hurt me if anyone was really paying attention (sudden job changes and unemployment). I didn't end up applying to G-town or Cornell because early in the cycle I was avoiding apps I would have to answer anything "yes" to for C & F (I think both of those apps have qs about interruptions to UG schooling which I did have) and also because I though with my GPA I really would have needed a 170 to have a shot.

I only took the LSAT once (last Dec) and felt to study to the point where I would likely go up it would take me longer than until the Feb test from when I got my Dec score back, and I didn't want to take another year waiting for school since I had basically been unemployed for a while. However, I kind of wish I had taken a shot at the Feb LSAT regardless of how much studying I could have gotten in because my scores seemed to vary a lot and I might have hit higher. From how schools generally look at scores now I don't think lower would have hurt me (maybe my pride though)- in fact, I don't even think the school would have necessarily needed to be informed.

those stats show nothing man, you don't know if these people applied Part of Full-Time and if they were URM's or not. With that being said, OP didn't clarify, but if he actually is a URM, everything I said does not apply.

This. Unless you don't want to be stuck down south/ midwest (I don't know if a JD from Emory even has a reach far enough for the Midwest).
