If I really really really wanted to be a lawyer, then I would go if I got into a T6. 200k/year is a lot of money to walk away from though.

no.

i guess it depends how much you are making now, and how the market is where you are.

Before or after the housing bubble burst? If were making $200k+ before the recession, I'd be really surprised if you were still making six figures now. But if you (or whoever) were making $200k right now in real estate? I'd stick it out in real estate. Law school is a lot of debt with not much potential in to make a comparable amount of money (opportunity cost is more debt and three years making that money).

This is my scenario, although you are right the recession is hurting things, right now I am pulling 200k...and I think it may go up...but I have always wanted to get into politics...

Then go into politics. You don't need a JD to be a politician.

You don't see how that post could be used to incite flaming?

Especially after this

I thought it was a hypothetical. I agree with you now. Dumb thread is dumb. I'll entertain OP though. HY or bust if you already make 200k and want a political career.

LOL - OP is/was a realtor and is taking his largest month of commissions pre-market collapse x 12 to arrive to a salary figure, which isn't a salary.

thats just RIDICULOUS! It is stupid to waste 3 years of your life and tons of money just to get involved in politics. Just start volunteering places, read up on politics, read the newspaper everyday, and start making connections with your local politicians and businesses in your area. politics is just connections and $, thats it

I took out the harassment info, but I got sexually harassed, that shouldnt matter, just sticking with what I got here...2.5 in English Lit and 160

I went back to HS (private) at 22, went to a public college, and for the past few years I've been working odd jobs. I've already applied to a number of schools (not top ten), and I wanted to know if it is worth it to try some of the better schools.

I wouldn't even post if it weren't for my low GPA. Just trying to get some info without cynical jerks screwing it up.

That depends. Would you rather be the top scientist in your field, or have mad cow disease?

Brown bear just pwned OP. I'm not sure how I missed that considering I read all those threads and posted in a few of them. Trolling is an art I suppose.

Edit: although I'm pretty sure the 180/2.3/kidnap thread was someone else.

Local politics maybe. If you want a chance in congress though, a yale or hardvard jd is a good place to start. It certainly isn't a waste of time or money either.

those were posts I quoted on some of them are not my posts...lol

but i think you guys are wrong, you will not be competitive for anything more than city council without a jd or md, and if you have a masters in econ or an mba or a phd you will still be looked down upon, maybe not the mba as much but a jd is best

Real estate is unstable as hell. I remember when I was taking my powerscore prep course there was a woman in there who really wanted to get out of it. I worked with a woman who had to start picking up part time retail work because neither her or her husband were pulling in enough selling homes to keep up with all the bills and expenses for the kids. I would definitely go to a top 14 if I were like the average person working in real estate. This guy, on the other hand, seems like some sort of real estate don. Keeping a stable salary of 200K a year in real estate is insanely difficult.

I am not a troll, this is serious, technically this is my first year making big money and it isn't over yet, but not only me but even my little brother made 100k in real estate this year, and he works another full time job as an iT guy for the University of Kentucky. What would I be troling for? I am looking for real answers here.
