180/2.32 + Unusual background

Post by MrButtonwood » Sun Dec 12, 2010 10:44 pm

So, those are the stats, but the background is probably even more uncommon: Lived for seven years as a kidnap victim in southeast Asia. I missed high school, had to retake in my early twenties (I'm 32). Worked odd jobs for the past few years.

What is my best shot, and what else should I know?

I'm in a similar situation. 179/2.36. I spent 7 years kidnapping people in southeast asia, but I turned over a new leaf and would like to practice law. Thoughts?

I'm looking for real advice, and I don't find this funny. If maybe you'd been in my shoes, you wouldn't joke about it.

That's nothing compared to those 7 years in southeast asia - 7 years in the shit. Gangrene in my toes and up my ass; the only thing that kept me going was perfecting my LSAT attack plan. I snuck up on 'em in the dead of night - when all the others were sleeping. Those sons of bitches didn't even see me comin' - the LG's didn't stand a chance. Before they knew it, I'd already diagramed them and ravished the RC section. By the time I got to LR, well they just folded without putting up a fight.

People say I've got the thousand yard stare - but those shortsighted sons of bitches aren't looking far enough ahead. They're dead before they started; curve meat for the cookin'.

What's not to believe about the OP's story? You guys are incredible.

OP, if this is serious, apply as high as HYS. You never know. Ask for as many fee waivers as possible. Washington University St. Louis is probably your best solid bet. Definitely try Northwestern, too.

If you carried a gold pocket watch for a friend's kid in your ass, Yale.

If not, out at HYS.

If this guy is legit, I want you to know you are cosmic assholes. COSMIC. ASSHOLES.

It's one thing to make fun of a guys shoes. It's another to belittle him for a harrowing experience.

C'mon, if we can't joke about being kidnapped for 7 years in southeast asia, what can we joke about? People are so sensitive. I blame it on Obama.

Somehow, my anti-McCain shirts on this theme were unsuccessful.

How harrowing can it be after 7 years? I mean, I understand the first little while, maybe even the first couple of years. But after 7 years, it had to have gotten a little routine.

You'd think after the first 1460 days, he might have figured out they weren't in any hurry to kill him.

Depends on what the odd jobs were, but I smell a sitcom.

Apply to YHS. Your LSAT and life story is compelling enough to maybe get you in one of those places, maybe more.

Say hi to Hemmingway while you're burning in hell for this. Even if he is trolling, it's not worth the risk that he is not.

Hemingway walked into Hell, punched the Devil in the face, took his bottle of booze, and is now living it up on a beach in Tahiti.

Who bears the risk of posting highly sensitive (patently unbelievable) information on the internets? Also, I'm agnostic, and the concept of hell is less believable than this poorly executed flame's story.

I'm walking away from this one. I'll just say this. If this guy really is a flame, I'm going to be pissed. Not so much at him, but at the opportunity cost of not laughing at a line of extremely funny jokes.

However, the risk that we might be further traumatizing someone who had a terrible life experience makes it not worth a couple of jokes.

Oh please. If s/he was a kidnapping prisoner for 7 years I'm sure some snarky comments from anonymous law students and soon to be law students won't crush his or her soul.
