What can be considered a safety school?

How much higher than a school's median does one need to be before they can consider a school a safety school. I really don't want to waste application money and time a bunch of safety schools so I want to know which schools I can reasonably place in this category.
3.2/166

I'd say that if you're near a school's median in one stat, and near their 75th for another, then you can consider it a safety school.

Do you think that UPitt or Case Western can conservatively be considered safety schools with these numbers?

Well say I get into a T2 school and they offer me some money. I might be inclined to ask for more since I got into a T25 school, and if I am going to rack up debt, I might as well get better placement for it. I would have to work on saying that as politely as possible though. But yeah, I've heard of that kind of thing happening fairly often.

Until the T2 looks at you funny and says that their OCI is significantly better than Emory's.

Anywhere in the 30's/40's, some good schools in that range.
