If you are smart enough to graduate early from college, you can definitely get a higher score. You both have high GPAs, don't waste them. Honestly, postpone, take it in June and rock it. NYLS is not a great school.

I know NYLS has a bad rep and it's not the best school according to the price. But the location and other aspects do appeal to us. And we really don't want to waste an entire year because of the lsat. We just want to get in. And we're sold on NYLS. I'm just primarily concerned with my brothers acceptance there.

Are you or "your brother" home schooled? It's bizarre that you would have graduated so early.

I will caution you with this. I know someone in the top 15% of her class at a T25 who graduated a year early from college and really had no work experience whatsoever. Come OCI, she who couldn't find a job. I can imagine you would have the same problem x 10.

Hahaha. I've read all the negative posts on NYLS that exist. Trust me I have. I was expecting this when i put up this thread. And to be honest i'm still waiting to come across a positive one. But that's besides the point. As hard as it is, could someone please just help me with what i've asked rather than passing judgement on my preference..

No not home schooled. We studied in the british system. Did O and A levels privately in one year (equivalent to high school) and did our undergrad starting at 14 and 16. But we're US citizens and want to continue with law in NYC.

Positive of NYLS: It's in New York.

There, I granted your wish.

I didn't ask for positives. I asked if this combination could get us in or not. So u granted nothing. Just said what I know and have already heard.

NYLS is definitely not a good school. But considering "your brother" (doubtful that you guys aren't one and the same) really wants to go, I really think that he/you will be hurt, not helped by his/your young age.

If you two want to waste your GPAs on NYLS go for it, but at least bump up your LSAT so you can go for free.

Well first of all, fire your tutor if he can't muster more than a 150. Seriously though, what I would do if I were you is this:

Princeton Review allows you to take the class again for free if you are unsatisfied with your score, and have done all your homework. Take the exam, apply, and then ask to take the class again for the Feb. or June exam if you are both willing to wait until next cycle to apply.

You probably won't listen to that though. Anyway, your bro will probably get into NYLS. I know they have that program where you pay a ridiculous amount of money to take a summer course, and the people who get the best grades in the summer course get admitted to the school. He'll probably be tossed into that if the rest of his application is clean.

undergrad at 14 and 16??? I don't think your expected LSATs are very representative of that fact. You obviously have the capacity to do better. Don't settle. Settling for less than you deserve is never good and you'll regret it. Anyway, why does your bro have to go the same school as you??? Can you like be away from each other for 3 years? not trying to be a wise ass, seriously wondering.

Lol @ "sissy" i got it when u used the invert's, dont waste ur time reinforcing it again and again. U think we're the same. WOW. U didn't make that obvious at all. I'm not going to prove that we're actually brothers trying to get into the same school, despite how much u'd like me to do so. Thus, either be helpful to the question or don't post with ur annoying sense of humor.

@Knotoftoads: Yeah that is possible but we both like the same school and the fact that it's easy to get good grades there. Our scores arent representative cuz we've only studied for the LSAT a month. And if we do it again we're wasting a year which we don't want to do.

Acquire some work experience for a couple years and then retake the LSAT.

Good luck to both of you. A 2.7 ish grading curve and 15% attrition rate says otherwise.

Please god let this be a flame.

It's gotta be. Where does someone here that a schools reported median is actually lower? Please allow this thread to go quietly into the night.

OP, the majority of the people here are trying to save either yourself or your parents (or whoever would have to flip the bill for this economic disaster). I realize the eagerness to get out and go on the jumpstart since this seems to be what you are accustomed to. But NYLS isnt the answer. It is an economic disaster waiting to happen. Even if you or your parents were fully loaded, you'd be better investing $300,000 (or whatever the price to send two students is) in a condo, or bonds, cars, or starting a business or something. Even if your family has "connections" in the legal field, this choice would still be insufficient.

At 157, you need to raise your score to at least 160 to Brooklyn or Cardozo and maybe get some free money. Given your home school/study background, perhaps you'd have an advantage at keeping the money by remaining in the top half. They still aren't great in this economy, but greatly ahead of NYLS and Cardozo is in the same location. Your best option, however, is to sit it out, work on the LSAT and aim no lower than Fordham, which is only a short subway ride away.

As for your "brother", 144+ and he might have a prayer. At his range, though, if he's into doing public interest, then I think CUNY would be a way better and cheaper option for him. Is there a reason why the both of you have to attend the same school? That means you could be competing against one another grade-wise. But the best option would be to sit and master the LSAT first, or not go.
