Before I waste the $87.00 on the app (they wouldn't give me a merit fee waiver I asked) what are my chances at BU? LSP has me at consider with a 3.15/170. I have a GPA addendum -several zero's factored into that GPA from when I transferred schools- and I've worked 5 yrs...anyone think it's worth it? I like BU but I also like $87.00 especially around xmas time!

BU has a 25th percentile GPA of 3.5 and rarely accepts below a 3.3 GPA. BC would be a better bet, but still a long shot.

Thanks...just took a closer look at lsn too...no one below 3.3 got accepted last year just saved myself some money!

Every single applicant does not register with LSN...

@ OP. Seriously consider not going to law school this year. Instead, get a year or two of work experience, then ED to Northwestern. You would put distance between yourself and your low GPA, and gain a decent shot at a T14.

I've got 5yrs work experience...applied to Northwestern and UVA RD, not expecting too much from them I know that LSN isn't everyone but it seems like it gets a pretty even cross section of applicants as far as numbers go. I haven't applied anywhere that I didn't get a waiver to yet so I'm hesitant to spend it on a reach like BU

I think you have a good shot at BU with 5 years WE. 5 years is a long time and BU likes people with WE.

+1 to the idea of sitting out a cycle if you miss Northwestern this one and applying ED next year. That being said, people have gotten in with your numbers before with RD at Northwestern, but don't expect UVA RD to pan out - especially if you're OOS.

For non-URM applicants who apply to T30ish schools, there's enough of a sample to generalize.

OP, worth the app for the outside shot I'd say. Unless you reeeeeaaalllyyy want to keep that $87.

You definitely have a shot with 5 years WE. Double your chances by putting in an app at BC which is virtually the exact same school.

If you have worked for 5 years and $87 still deters you from applying...I don't know what to tell you.

Haha, I hope you don't seriously think that doubles his chances. Also, of course OP has a chance. Its just not a very good one. He might feel better spending that money on a school where he has a better shot. I would probably apply if BU was high on OP's list though.

Ok, assuming OP would also be happy at BC it would increase the chance of acceptance according to a probability model. Thanks for taking the time to correct me

BU isn't necessarily where I want to go I was hoping to expand my options in Boston and I like the look of BU plus it's downtown which I like. I've targeted Boston and Richmond as the two markets I'd like to end up in...accepted at Richmond, Northeastern, Washington and Lee so far. Haven't heard back from WM despite going complete 11/8 so I'm probably looking at a waitlist there.
Waiting a year isn't really an option since I pretty much had to give my notice at work to get a letter of recommendation from my boss.
